Check it out! Just wanted to say hello in the Mitsu Garage.
Picked her up Wednesday from a dealer whom asked me where my tow truck was hahaha. Drove her till today when the front caliper blew. 80,000 miles and has been sitting for the last 3 years. Owned a ton of imports but this is my first time owning this year challenger/galant.

I'll be bouncing around in the next few days in my spare time asking for aannnnyyy spare knowledge someone can lend to me about this car. I'd hate to admit it but this is one import I do not know much about, aside from the 2.6L since I owned a plethora of starquests.

Problems thus far,
Blown caliper, horrible throttle response, verrryyyy floaty feeling, no FM RADIO?!, but hey the heat works.

I figure belts, hoses, shocks, new brake system, and carb and she should be relatively safe. ( Heck I drove her home with just the handbrake 9 miles today) Any good carb suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Oh wow I didn't even think about that! Heres an update (If anyone cares lol) Took apart the brakes out of impatience, very unique brake clip system to say the least. Blown caliper due to the piston extending too far.. because it had NO BRAKES AT ALL ON IT. I thought the noise was rust for the first day. I was riding on straight caliper to rotor!!

I couldn't find one but is there a specific lambda forum that anyone knows of? I'm trying to learn this car inside and out, so I get the most bang for my buck. I know by the end of my starions life I had a camaro alternator on it, a mustang throttle body, and a dodge caravan head and without the help of sqc that would of never been possible.

ok, here are the two other old school mitsu forums:
sigma-galant.com
classic colt forumcircle

so the 1st is the oz based and has a lot of info for you, but most of it is archived and you must SEARCH. the knowledgeable guys have been members for years, and don't bother with faq's
(hint: your car was badged as a scorpion there)

the 2nd is a usa but doesn't get much traffic, so it's more of a "lite" forum, and i don't even know if any lambda owners go on there

Welcome to the garage, great car! If I had seen that I would have run to Philadelphia faster than you even know, haha. Congrats on the find, looks like a real solid base, any plans?

Its funny I was just in the area a few weeks ago WITH my Galant (Sapporo) for the Mitsu Owners Day meet. In fact, here's my car at the Ben Franklin Bridge on oct 13th of this year. Next year you should come to the show!

Wow that is ultra clean! Yeah I dont know how I stumbled across it but right now its actually my daily driver hahaha.
What I really want to do to it right now is lower it a little, get a little offset going, I am in dire need of a new carb or rebuild, and just piece her back to good health. I'm on the lookout for some mitsu badges but all in due time. I thought my Starion was hard to find parts for...

Ooooo yeah... 79' big pimpin'. Looks like you have an early g54b. Stock dish pistons paired with a non-hemi head. If you ever have to swap the head out to a newer hemi-head, you'll also need flat top pistons to keep the compression ratio up... unless you like 7~:1 N/A... lol.

Alternator will have to drop out of the bottom if you have A/C, it's pretty easy.

As far as carb, most in the US go with a weber 32/36 with redline bolt on adapter. Make sure you get a good weber, brand new if you can. There's also the 38/38 "outlaw" if you're lookin' for power... but that auto trans won't take much abuse, unless it's built up.

Suspension wise it should handle very well, if all the parts are in good condition. Most likely needs shocks, and steering parts replaced.
