Hello everyone,
in the process of doing some mechanical work and struggling to find some parts. Currently I have a glass bowl petrol pump on the car and would like to replace it with an enclosed pump. Does anyone know of the equivalent pump that will fit the F40 motor? Also, having issues with the side draft twin throat carbi and would like to replace, any sugestions of a bolt on equivalent? I am in Melbourne, Australia. Thanks.

Hi Anthony
I may be able to help you with a non glass fuel pump.
I seem to have both types.
What year is your car and is it the one from the Shannon auction?
Regards
John

Hi John,
A lot of work has been done since this post. To answer your first question, yes this is the car from the Shannon's Auction, although it is about 100% better than when I purchased it from there. It is a 1963 model. An early build as identifiable by the separate front grill and park lights, they were integrated in later models.

Since my last post the engine has been removed and freshened up. All gaskets and seals replaced. The glass fuel pump has been overhauled. We seal the glass bowl to remove any risk of it falling off. The side draft carbie has been removed and an adapter manifold manufactured to allow the mounting of a SU carbie. The exhaust manifold has also been remade as I wasn't happy with the ones made by a previous owner. The gearbox has been also overhauled as I was having issues with the gearbox getting stuck in reverse and it appears it was due to a worn selector shaft.

While the engine was out the engine bay was freshened up and most suspension rubber bushes replaced.

So much work but really worth it. It is now fun to drive and more importantly reliable.

I am attending Classic Japan 2012 on the 25th of November in Melbourne. Really looking forward to getting it out and taking it for a drive.

Hey Anthony

Could you please provide us some new pictures from your Campangno?

For me it's too far to come to Melbourne from Vienna in Austria (15.781 km in one way) ;)

Hello Mr Daihatsu,
I tried to post some pictures but I keep getting an error message stating that the board attachment quota has been reached. I'll try again soon.

Yes, it works.

But there are no pictures from the engine bay room, right?

Was it hard for you to find spare parts like seals and other stuff for the engine?

try the Flickr link again:

I went out to the garage and took some quick photos with my phone. Sorry for the quality. I'll try and get some good photos on the weekend when I have it out.

We were lucky enough to find an engine gasket kit. What we couldn't find we made. I am finding that the only way to get parts is to make them.

Anthony

Some pics you may have seen before. Love yours! Style... The man who owns the gold one told me the 'Berlina' name was the high end name they used on the Compagno. See ya. Neko.

Does anyone know how many Compagno Spider's were produced?

Also, did the pre '67 models come with an 800cc carby engine and post '67 with a 1000cc fuel injected?

Thanks!
