Ok so I have a 78 Cressida, budget is only a slight issue but anything is prey much attainable, so what engine to swap?

Beams 3sge?
Six speed 220hp cheap 240hp easily attained possibly turbo it later?

1jz auto? Cheap easy to swap
2jz auto? More power little more expensive
2jz 5 speed? Expensive
1uz?
2jzge?

Am I missing another possible idea other then m series that I do not want
What do you think? I'm not trying to build a monster or anything just a fun car

Beams 3sge? - how easily attained is this for you? 240hp peak maybe but why would you want to spend all your time up there? break something and getting parts is a relative PITA.

1jz auto? Cheap easy to swap - assuming you're talking non-VVTi turbo. if leaving the auto trans in is what makes this swap "cheap easy" for you, pass on it.

2jz auto? - same as above.

2jz 5 speed? Expensive. thought you said budget isn't an issue though? what transmission are you using? planning on buying a whole set that comes with one or finding your own?

1uz? - what i'm looking at doing.

2jzge? - been done so there's parts and knowledge available.

this seems like a dreaming thread where you want to just shoot the breeze about choices out there. i could arbitrarily pick any motor and make it seem like a horrible/awesome idea for you depending on how i spun the facts. how serious are you about doing this, and why are you doing it? what's your goal for the car?

1UZFE gets my vote. Cheap(ish) and plentiful. Especially if you plan to stay auto.

2rz/3rz relatively easy to make 350-450 hp, not exactly cheap though. KO racing has turbo kits for those motors under the "tacoma" section.

Mostly I wanted opinions, with vague expressions on my opinions as a forethought. Thanks for the input and a jz swap is easily done, a child could do the wiring there are so many write ups.

Wiring for a 2jzge is simple....for the vvti version....good luck!

Also, sorting gas tank, fuel lines, pump.. (carb, now efi) is something to consider

I agree with above poster....each motor has things that are easier about swap, and things that are more challenging...
1UZ swap I think there are header clearance issues....and the torque in the 1uz will surely grenade the puny stock diff in no time...

Anyways, once you start a swap, your more specific questions will be easier to answer.

2jzge seems like the cheapest and best bet.....can also turbo later, (NA-T)

Too much money for too little output, 7m just in my past mk3 experiences, usually require a rebuild, I hate the stock intake manifold for fmic, and not much to be had even with the Lexus Afm housing boost wise. Your into it for as much as a jz that will do better anyway, just my opinion/experience

Did you buy this car in Roseburg?
I agree the intake mani design makes plumping a turbo setup a whore...
But not every 7M needs a rebuild, just ARP head studs and a mhg... which if it was me I would be pulling the head anyway to flow it out... I just like the M series because it's different.

Yeah I was considering that one in Roseburg but it needed more love than I have to give right now...
That's bitchin though, I have nothing against the JZ series, that will be a gnarly sleeper.
Let's see some pictures of the beast.
