That was filmed rather close to me...in fact, a few streets over from where I lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio for around a year. Cool little street/neighborhood called Coventry. I knew one of the girls who did the makeup for that movie...but that's another story for another time.

it is in the trailer and it's not just a background car, it is a character car in what looks like a B story. It does crash into some rubbish bins.
