Over the years I have realized that some of my all-time favorite cars wouldn't be looked at twice by most of my friends. Now obviously they are clueless to not realize the infinite-awesome of 80's J-tin boxes like the Cressida, and they just don't get it if they can't understand why I would rather have a 4 door Kenmeri than a GTR Hakosuka. To me those cars could and should be loved by anyone. However, I can't explain why some of my favorite cars appeal... I waste way too much time daydreaming of a late 90's Mitsubishi Mirage dumped low on Volk barrels, and I have lusted after mid-90's Jeep Cherokees for ages. I get super hyped about Volvo wagons, and I must own a Protege5 with a list of Racing Beat parts before I die. I silently plot to steal a little old lady's 1st gen Prelude across town, and sometimes I ask my girlfriend to go on random drives across the river into Ohio, (where thousands of car guys enjoy relaxed motor vehicle laws). I tell her we're just going for the scenery, but I'm plotting to find a neglected 87 Fiero or Subaru SVX.. does anyone else do this or am I breathing too much premix? Who's got a top-5 list of cars they'd love to own that would make your neighbors wonder if you're okay?

You sir are awesome, definitely not alone...

1. 94' galant vr-4
2. 90' sentra se-r w/ rwd Sr20vet swap
3. Mid 90's jeep Cherokee as well (not grand Cherokee)
4. Ford sierra cosworth edition
5. Mid 60's Austin mini w/ b16a Honda swap.

Good thread to start!

The Grand Cherokees were hideous, a guy in town has the se-r with the sr20vet, JDM Nissan variable-valve timing right? I think he imported the motor.. here's a Mini to suit your needs...

That mini was awesome, I fell in love with those a few years back when I saw one in person. As soon as it hit vtec, that little car was gone.

And yes that's correct about the Sr20vet, they also run a bigger turbo then the det, the vet has a T25 turbo.

Nice Toy yoda! Reed, my dad has fond memories of his Beretta, which he own before my existence. I always assumed they sucked.. were they fun to drive? Does anyone else long for a Focus wagon, or want desperately to find a clean supercharged 90's grand prix? To help satisfy my desire to drive and modify the unloved, I have been given free reign over the modifications of my girlfriend's slushbox 95 celica base model. We'll see if I can make it cool..

Ohhhhh, I love me some Mirage!!! Here is my former 95 LS, 1.8 liters a five speed and just 2k lbs to haul around. These are a fun way to get 40mpg on the highway! I sold it to my best friend for next to nothing when I needed the cash with the condition he sell it back to me when he is done. Big mistake, I think he is in love with it now too. Just turned 200k on the original drivetrain, and that has certainly not been an easy 200k!.....

I loved my Beretta! However it's only downfall was none of the 3.1l v6s came with a 5spd only the quad 4 powered cars did and those were the high end/limited edition version. I based buying a eclipse off the similiarities I felt it had with the beretta. Only the 99 Eclipse NT was slower than the Beretta haha.

I thought having the lights and wipers on turn dials on the sides of the dash a cool feature.

Excellent choices guys, I'm glad I'm not the only one... however I can't believe no one has mentioned G-body cars from the General, ie: 79 Mailbu/Monte Carlo. Also, who else wants a Neon r/t, or has a soft spot for the Panther chassis (Lincoln Town Car/Mercury Grand Marquis/Ford Crown Victoria)? I want a z31 with the digital dash so badly, I would slam it into the weeds and do a turned-up and slightly sideways tailpipe, attack the streets with 80's shakotan invasion! Also, someone needs to start making hidden i-pod jacks integrated into factory stereo systems, I want to remove the alpine cd player that came in my fb and reinstall the ultra-cool equalizer-equipped clarion it came with from the factory.. sound quality be damned! Lastly, I forgot to mention that I would rather have the first generation (in the U.S.) Scion xb than a new wrx..

I can officially say that I have no soft spot for the panther.

And I have to say that the "G-Body-cars" or the "Panther-chassis-cars" are almost completely unknown in Europe outside the small american-car-scene.

But I like to see the for-us-very-exotic Ford Crown Victoria in films. I think I would like one, so ad me to the list!

I've owned a G and have had several friends with Panthers... :tu:

I would really like to find a '94 Mercury Sable wagon with a rear-facing third-row seat. Ah, childhood. Another Mustang II hatchback would be a welcome addition...maybe one day another G-body Cutlass or a Grand Prix 2+2...I also quite like the early-mid '90s FWD Cutlass Supreme...

for me, it's small cars. the smaller, the better. I had a 94 Hyundai Excel for about 5 years and loved it. I would have another one, in fact, I'd kinda like to get the same one back. I would like a Geo Metro 3 cylinder. I had a Renault LeCar for a few, but never got it legal. My friend's dad has had Yugos all along. all these are cars loved by me that would make people question my sanity.

Volvo 240's and Saab 99's. I also like Vauxhall Vivas, Hillman Avengers, stuff like that.
XG Falcon utes are cool, too. Wouldn't say nobody else likes them, there's shitloads of Ford guys out there, but all my mates think I'm retarded for considering replacing my Commodore with a shitbox Ford :P
