I have owned this car for about two years now and i've finally pulled finger to give it a tidy up, the interior is in original condition, the engine was a bit smokie and the body is rust free apart from the doors which have the factory fitted rust in the bottom, but other wise an excellent base to start from

ignore the momo, it's just there to preserve the original wheel

I remember viewing this car when it was imported. The exterior colour didn't do anything for me, but I really liked the interior (grey GT-X trim spec, which would have been a special order from new)

Good to see some progress Gary :)

::edit:: I just realized the Pioneer headunit in the bottom shelf is the same as one I found that's had the plug chopped off, and I've been hunting for schematics for. Does yours still go?

So here is the freshly rebuilt engine, the oil and apex seals were stuffed and one housing had a very minor amount of missing chrome,
so i changed it for a better one i had sitting around

gave the turbo a bit of a tidy, found it had a bit to much shaft play
so i changed it for a spare that had alot less slop, i sort the advise
of a turbo man who said it was fine to use and would cost $700
just to look at the other one

Everything is getting the "to look as original as pos" treatment,
Oil metering pump with new seals inside
then
Image

Image
and now
Image

Image

next up is the air pump.
then
Image

Image
and now
Image

Image

and the filthy old manifold, this thing had so much crap on the outside
and inside of it because of the rough casting i couldn't leave it like that,
Image

Image
bit of a tidy up and managed to polish the ports all the way through,
they were rough as guts!
Image

Image

more to come

Looking good. Is that real zinc coating or just paint? Looks really schmick, hoping it's paint so I can ask what brand, type. Keep up the good work

thanks for the great comments,
ozzyincali: sorry but it's not paint, it is zinc plating with a gold pasivate finish.

inlet manifold is all bolted up and the turbo installed as well

and finished the dizzy, these things are very basic so it was easy to pull apart and clean

Image

Image

thats it for now on the engine,
on to the gearbox and engine bay tidy up.

If you want to see any other pics of before or after just post a reply
