Heres my 78 colt lancer coupe.

Hey guys, im new in this forum and I just wanna share with you guys the car that I picked up couple weeks ago. Its a 1978 dodge colt , all original from inside and out with 81,000 original miles. I was wondering whats the best option on dropping the front?? Thanks!

I dropped mine by cutting the springs. A coilover alternative wouldn't be hard though since the strut tube is very similar to a Toyota setup and I am certain will use the same collar and spring diameters to work. But my car rides okay with cut springs and I doubt u will be going as low as I did. Good luck and get those pics posted.

Yeah as of options in lowering the front , you would have to modify the shock housing and piece together parts to to make a coilover system work. I just cut 2 1/2 coils off my stock springs until I can piece together parts to do it the way I want it. Ride is alil bouncy but I'm use to it.Welcome to the club....can't wait for the pics ...ill post up my coltlancer pics up today once I get to a computer.

Thanks guys!!! Yeah I have a set of front system from a 77 corolla ke30.. And I was thinking of asking my friend to do a coilover system ,since he made one for his 76te37.. but yeah, im tryna post up pics of my car the it wont let me...

yes I did... But yeah I talked to my friend thats on this forum..he said it might take a bit before I can actually start posting pics coz I just started it not even a week ago...

Wow ! That's clean ! Great find ! Maybe sometime we should meet up and cruise or something . I'm out in the west , I'm always looking for local colt owners to hang with n BS about cars.

There's a few of us in the general area you could say lol. Neither, of my cars are running right now. Myself and another colt buddy are up here in the Northern end of the state, he rallies a '77.

Yes I am the one..lol the weird part is my friend saw it parked from the original owner and was gona buy it. But when he came back with the money, the owner changed his mind and decided to not sell it anymore and he'll just give it to his daughter. then he told me about it and I even tried to buy it as well but he declined my offer.. And then a couple months later I came back and it was gone.. Lol then 3 months ago, a coworker of mine found it on craigslist and told me about it, but he was asking for Way too much, me knowing how much he got the car for.. So then I just kept my eye on it for awhile till he kept posting it and brought the price down.. Then I gave him an offer that he cant resist...lol thats how I got the car...Lol

nice car! maybe consider keeping it stock? cant be many left that are that clean? best way to lower it is lowered HD springs and matching shocks, spring cutting isnt a good way to do it and you could end up with an uncontrollable car. If you go HD springs on the front you should do something at the back to keep the cars ballance. Coilovers dont really do anything lowered springs wont, anyway you have coilovers already!

Oh ok...yeah im planning to leave it with a stock height for now and just get a new set of 14" old school wheels..and focus on working on the motor..

But yeah, I wasnt gona buy for the price that he was asking for...lol
