Car is 73 Corona MarkII 4m with 7m non turbo.

When I install the inline EFI fuel pump does it have to be wired into the 7m harness and controled by the ECU or can I wire it seperate to the car with just a relay?

Is the 7mge ECU just going to be for the EFI management and the cars harness for most everything else?

Yes, that's the best way to wire it up.

Best way is to wire the pump with the OEM 7M harness but u will be good to wire it tru a relay as long as your return line/fuel system is in tip top shape, so the fuel system dont overheat or get messed up by pump overheat, as i told you before by PM!

Are the stock metal fuel lines from front to rear on the corona safe for EFI?

I will be using the stock return line for sure.

On the 7m fuel rail is the line off the stock fuel regulator the return,the line off the front of the rail?

Is it safe to mount the 7m ECU in the engine compartment,I can not see a way to run it throught the firewall on the passenger side unless I cut a new hole?

Im left with one stock metal line on my rona that was for the charcoal can and is kinda in the way.Can I remove it or just cap it?

Metal, yes. Any rubber lines will need to be replaced by high-pressure "EFI" rubber hose.

Size is important too. EFI often needs a slightly bigger metal feed line to run a higher volume of fuel.



It's eventually not going to like the heat...

Loads of American car companies do it. Don't think I've ever seen a Japanese car company do it.



That's usually how these things are done.

EFI harness should have a rubber grommet on it to make the new hole weatherproof.

Ya all rubber hose will be EFI rated.

I saw a caravan today and it had the ECU mounted at the top of the firewall in the engine compartment.

Ya I kinda thought I would have to cut a new hole,yes 7m harness has rubber grommet.

I will go shopping for a metal hole saw tomorrow.

Loads of Chryslers do. They also have loads of ECU failures.

make sure if you wire it independently that you use one of the electronic fuel cutout relays or use an oil pressure safety switch, this stops the pump if the engine is stopped, EG. You just hit some idiot texting on the cell phone head on, it stops your car from becoming a flaming coffin. Lots of older Honda stuff has the ignition sensing module, it senses pulses from the negative side of the coil and allows the relay to turn on the pump, they are a simple ignition power,ground, sense wire to coil, and 12 volts out to pump relay, don't skip this stuff, in a setup where the ecu controls the pump, the ECU does the same thing. The oil pressure safety switch only allows current to flow when there is engine oil pressure, engine stops, switch turns off pump relay

just because some cars have the ECU in the engine compartment doesn't mean all ECU's are meant to be mounted this way, it's an awful place to put it and bad design, most Chrysler stuff will eventually fail anyway so it doesn't make any difference

Check out a chassis punch. It's a handy tool for firewall cuts in tight places.

Knock out punch will do it too!
