The time has begun to start my own build thread.

Background:
I sort of fell into the JNC world after having a number of other cars the most recent being an '88 Landcruiser. Since Toyota has always treated me well I started looking at older models and fell in love the with MX32. My search began and ended here on JNC. Big thanks to Oracles for having the cleanest old Cressida that I have ever seen and dealing with my millions of questions and shipping hassles to get it to me.

The Blue Bomb:
1979 Toyota Cressida with about 65k miles on the chassis/body. Seriously, I doubt you'd find a cleaner, straighter example anywhere that hasn't had body work done. The interior is pure 70's crushed velvet sex.

The Plans:
Replace the engine since it is blown. Eventually I will do a JZ or UZ swap but currently going to swap in another 4M and get it going down the road for a while first.
Full T3 coilover kit.
Wheels and Tires
Stereo
Roof Rack

Here's a few pics before I got the car:

Up next, Why she's being called The Blue Bomb. a.k.a. Engine swap time

I knew buying the car that something was wrong with the head and it was not a running car. Knowing this the logical step is pulling the head and getting it worked and go from there.

Time to pull the head:

Everything seemed great until I got the head off yesterday and found this:

Every cylinder had bits of valves and other various chunks of head pieces in them. The one piston looks super mangled and almost melted on the top.

Hence the name The Blue Bomb.

Over the next few nights I'll get the full engine pulled. I have a 4M on standby that I will get this weekend assuming it all checks out. We will do a full head set on it and then get it swapped in. I'll get some more pics of the work and post them soon.

If the 4M falls through I am debating a JZ or UZ swap. I just need to figure out which is going to involve the least amount of fab/custom work as I am on a tight schedule and budget.

The 4M has been swapped with another 4M as of Saturday. I am still working on the emissions delete and Weber carb swap. Other than that we will do the T3 suspension and some new wheels and tires and she will be cruising the PacNW very soon.

I will work on getting some more info about the Weber carb conversion to share with the rest of the 4M faithful.

Got the Weber carb and stuff to finish the emissions delete. Just no time to get it done yet. Hopefully this weekend or early next week. I'm looking forward to getting her on the road very soon!

The Weber kit for a Toyota 2F engine will fit directly on the 4M manifold. Now I just have to see about the linkage and tuning the carb a bit with the emissions deleted. Might have to give you a ring for that, Alan.

Clean Cressy you've got there. Good idea keeping 4m for awhile, they grow on you. My 4m has done 8k miles since April (Including a trip from Miami to NYC and back) with no problems. All the tune-up parts for it on rockauto are super cheap.

Yeah, that's the factory color. The 4M is in and she has officially driven down the road under her own power for the first time as of last night.

I am just trying to figure out the throttle cable/linkage and kickdown cable and she should be starting as my daily soon.

Next steps will be to install the T3 coilovers and drop the rear suspension as well.

She's officially on the road again.

4M swapped in with EGR/Emissions deleted. Weber 38DGES carb.

She pulls hard. Next step is to install the T3 coilovers that I have to get her down low. Here's a few pics that a buddy took for me today on her maiden voyage.

Awesome! Other than some fender mirrors that's how she's going to look for a while. So stoked.

do they make an adapter to incorporate triple carbs on the 4m? I think that would be awesome if someone does.

Looking good man, maybe we can get all the X32 owners together and have a cruise. :tu:
