Amazing how the shiny wheels draw the eye away from the paint scratches and dings.

Here's some stuff that happened before I got too excited and posted the finished product.
Bit of suspension work over last weekend.

I replaced the R31 struts with S13 hubs and coilovers.
Here is the hub in question.

Image

They went on fairly easily now that I have one of these for separating the tapered fittings (tie rod ends, ball joints).

Image

One of 2 problems was the R33 GTS brakes wouldn't fit with the S13 shield.
The caliper interfered here

Image

After a little dismantling...

Image

...problem fixed.

Image

The other problem was the tie rods I was supplied have a different thread

Image

I'm looking into a fix for that. (the fix turned out to be R32 tie rods).

Everything in place

Image

The track came out pretty much exactly the same.

Before

Image

After

Image

So I got all that done, jumped in the car, and it wouldn't start.
Lights, fuel pump, good no starter motor.
Electrics not being my strong suit, I'll get a sparky to look at it. (wire fell off the starter motor. Sparky didn't charge me, he just rolled his eyes. He knows what I'm like  )

And here's some stuff I did yesterday.

If you follow this thread you'll know that this happened last track day.

Image

Busted rear diff bracket.
It happened at Marulan Driver Training Centre, and MDTC owner Gary Wilmington made me a newy to get me home.

Image

Replaced my aftermarket rear diff bracket with a new stock one.

Image

Image

Image

While I was under there I too a couple of pics of the rear wheel/rear trailing arm clearance.

Image

Image

And finished the steering with R32 tie rods and Hardrace tie rod ends

Image

And did a wheel alignment

Image

Pink string FTW!

Turns out I string lined and eyeballed it to within 2mm on the alignment, and to within .07 degrees on the camber.

I even surprise myself sometimes at how good I am :D

Another track day at Marulan yesterday.

One small mishap.
Popped an intercooler hose off,

Took about 10 minutes to fix and .....

And Tim.

Seeing 3 coupes in one place is still a rare thing here.
Though we should see a few at the coming Skyline Nationals.
September 8 show and shine, Goulburn NSW
September 9 track day, Wakefield Park, NSW
Will take some pics there and post em here.

Here is a bit of footage from inside James's car (the black and yellow one)
Awesomely fast! It is running an RB30 bottom end (3 litre) with an RB25 twin cam head and a bigger turbo.

At about 5.45 he catches an R33 skyline. Watch for flame shenanigans.

I've been cleaning the crap out of the car (literally) for next weekends Skyline nationals at Goulburn NSW.
Just finished respraying my autospoiler. Tomorrow, polish.

I'll take lots of pics of all the cars there and post them up.

Oh, and any of you Sydney people want your car aligned up to full race suspension fitted and tuned?
This is the place.

Image

Dave Falson has been around for a long time and has owned DR30s, HR31s and R32s.
Not cheap but if you want the job done right, he is the man to see.
Suffice to say I now know my problem and how to fix it.
He is located at Taren Point.
