I am finally starting my SPL213 restoration. I am trying to figure out what color options did they have for the car in those days. Exterior color, engine color, interior.. etc.

Does anyone have pictures of what the convertable top cover should look like? A while back I googled images and found the picture of the top cover but can't find it now.

Right now the car is whiteish color with red interior.

Also, member HYu, we don't believe you unless you post pics! :D

(Plus it would be a good reference for glarior).

Cheers!

That top... is that what the original looked like? Last year I found a picture showing the top had no sides. I think it was an advertisment picture for the car during those years.

Mine is that white color. When I re-paint it.... I am in debate between red on white... or.... white on red.

Interior is red.

Also read the wheels were painted as well.

I don't think I will put that blue on the valve cover.... reminds me of ford blue.

Wow what a great response!!!!

Thank you!!!

I am really liking the red on white, red interior, black top, red wheels with chrome caps.

Was the valve cover really blue? I am thinking red instead... hrm.

Hi glarior,

The title of your post is 'SPL213 Fairlady colors, pics... keep it original'.

Now, I am all for keeping classic cars original if possible but I have the belief that a car is only original once. If it is coming down to a complete respray etc. then that is a blank canvas.

Any chance of you posting up a build thread and documenting your restoration? Very rare car and I am sure you would get a lot more responses and helpful information if you did. :tu:

I agree with what you said. I say original because everyone and their brother tells me to drop a 350 in it and how they would hot rod this and that..... I just say no. I have land speed motorcycles and other quick cars for perfromance/speed so this one stays original and period correct.

Originally I was going to rebuild her myself but decided not to. I am taking it to a family friend who been restoring cars since the 60's. Awesome work and some cars he had I would drool over and still think about today. The car will be dropped off end of next month and sooner or later be restored lol. Easier said then done.

That is a great idea! I will start a thread later this year when he really starts on the car. I will have him take some resoration pictures but it will take a while for them to get to me. He does not do anything with computers and hates them. It will be polaroids or 35mm pictures.

It is a blank canvas.... everything comes off, fixed, restored and make it a fun driver to work! Can't wait.
