you could have fit it in there no problem without hacking much. Not to highjack your nice build thread or anything like that... Just sharing that I have been there. I mounted the stock radiator with a high pitch 2 row radiator and remounted the outlets and it has never overheated. I also used a Nissan Pulsar (310 with A series FF car) radiator fan and it works nice. You can trigger them with a thermostatswitch from a first gen Civic.

Nice build and keep up the good work!

Oh. I used a Truck one piece drive shaft and it was a bolt on... You can also use a RT72 or first gen MK2 rear axle and it is a bolt on. it is a little wider but still workable and you get the 6.7" diff which is a good advantage with LSD and rear end ratios.

to lower the car i will be getting the rear leafs reset 2" and then also have a set of lowering blocks that I can put in to get it even lower for show days and when I want to be badass hahahah

For the front ill probably get some springs made 2" lower to suit the rear leafs and then have a set of cut springs to go even lower for the show days ect.

Eventually it will get air bags so I can lay frame hahaha but thats only on the wish list at present.

Cheers Andy

Quick update,
Found a internally regulated alternator that pretty much bolted straight on with minimal fuss.
I scored the alternator from "AUTO ELETRICS AUSTRALIA" here in Brisbane its a 70 amp jobbie and is perfect for the job.

To make it fit i added a spacer in between the legs on the pivot mount about 10mm and I had to drill out the front mount hole on the front leg to the larger bolt size and swapped the steel insert from my old externally regulated alternator on the rear leg.

Also made up a small adapter to allow the use of the original alternator bracket. easy really.

small adapter so I can use original bracket

Been speaking with diecrest engineering and we are close to having the gilmer drive gears and belt sorted, might be cheaper if i get more than one set.
Ill ask them when I speak to them next

up date the RAT040 is now rolling!!!
Got everything sorted and done over the last few weekends just a few small things to finish off and its rego time.

Took these pics about an hour ago after going on sneaky test drive for 20 mins or so and its running mint!!!
Used a airflow meter and verniers and some screw drivers to sync and tune the carbs seems to be all good.
Just need to get it on a dyno to make sure A/F ratios are good and to see what sort of power it will make.

Just need to lower it a few inches, ive head the old Isuzu Gemini front springs fit and are 1 1/2" shorter in standard length so some lowered Gemini springs would give me the drop without having to make some custom lowering springs with the angle grinder!!!
Has anyone used the Gemini springs??

Custom grill was a mission to strip, sand, paint, polish and add skull but looks the goods, note air intake in head light

Update!!

Car has now been slammed for Greazefest car show on sunday.
I used some 4" hilux lowering blocks with 19mm locating dowels.
Had to shave a small amount off the dowels to make fit but nothing serious, also had to bend the u bolts to suit the narrower diff housing and also drill out the through holes on shock mounting plate.
Removed bump stops and we are good to go.
For the front i just took a few coils off the standard springs, this set up is purely for car shows and I will have a set of 2.5" blocks and get some front lowering springs to suit.

well car went on its first outing to Greazefest on the weekend and got a pretty good response from people at the show.
Car was running sweet as shit!!

Did a few final bits and pieces Saturday night and polished the shit out of the chrome and got the glass crystal clear and added some stenciling to the petrol tins on the roof racks.

Scored the roof racks off egay for 0.99c local pick up, was a awesome deal.

nice pics
especially the last one in the drive way
with your car lowered like that does it site level?
do you have clearence issues with drive ways and speed bumps?

i really like the direction your going with but do you think that blue
is a little......to pretty for that style?
those red wheels would look nice against a dark color

redma61,
Yea it sits level but it does scrape on driveways and speed bumps.
Ill be getting another set of springs and lowering blocks that will raise it to a better height.
Il keep this set up for show days ect and then have the secondary suspension set up for cruising and shit.

Getting whitewalls next weekend which will change the whole look of the car again.

Also looking for a set of 15" steel wheels which ill get powder coated matte red.

When i have the coin ill be getting a full paint job in matte black with pin stripping and a few other little special touches, but you will have to wait and see for the final product.

Also should have a set of gilmer drives in the next few weeks to give it that nice whine without the supercharger price hahaha
