Because this will do for now and i've got about 90% of what I need. :)

If i go the other route, i need to source bits and pieces, i'd rather not when I'm so close to the 4G63.

I hear you on that point... I'm in the same boat; two "ongoing" projects in the garage now and had to resist the temptation to start a 3rd, recently. So many cars...
Though, I do plan on doing a 2.4l stroker in the near future, but I'm busy enough for now.

I'll be waiting to see how your G63T turns out.

I'll start my own topic later.

suppose I should update:

the other day I made motor mounts and now I have an SRT4 intercooler for it. I need to do wiring, then it's on to some fun.

Seen here is the EVO 8 intake manifold with the adapter plate. My brother has lots of these for anyone else that wants to run a similar set up.

I've got 31 days before I try to drive this car to Ohio for the DSM/EVO shoot out.

I'm trying to complete the 4G63T swap prior to the trip, the fender flares and 15x10's will have to wait until after the event, i'll steal the rota's back off my 76. So far I've compiled everything I need aside from a few gaskets and an oil filter housing.

the 4G63 seems to be the way to go with these. That bolted right up to your trans?....Intake also looks like a perfect fit in there. This will be sweet. Someday I want to a swap to F.I., but I have quite some time to go until that can happen.

So which 4g63 exactly does bolt up to the colt trans? Did you have the km119 in there prior?

Currently has a KM119 until i break it. which probably wont be very long. Then a KM132 from a later 80's 2.0 d50/mighty max will go into it. There's guys reliably using these on 250-300hp as long as they dont beat the snot out of the trans and I'll be making less than 250, i dont drive rough, so it will be perfect for reliability.

it's coming together, the wiring is cleaning up decently, things are falling into place. Right now it's just the little stuff that's stopping me. Oil cooler hard lines from a DSM wont fit anywhere on the front end of this thing, so im stuck waiting until monday for the hose and tube shop to open so I can get some fittings and high pressure hose, then I need an o2 housing flange and bung so I can make a downpipe...

Then it's time to start it up.

There's a lot of things I want to change already, but it should get me to shoot out and back in one piece... I hope...

Image

I'm really thinking the car needs to just go flat black entirely. Once I get back from shoot out I'll decide, I have those fender flares for a 280Z and plan to run diamond racing wheels in 15x10 and 15x8, for the shoot out I'll roll the 15x8/15x7 combo I already have.

Sweet, I have a km119 as well. Nice to finally see something come together with it, I could never really tell (with all the threads and no details) which F.I. motors bolted up to it. Mine's just a daily driver, so I would even be using a turbo either. Looks great man! I actually dig the black hood with silver body.

Any narrow block will bolt right up. If I were you and wanting fuel injected, electronic ignition and belt driven timing, I'd look into a 1.6 4G61 smaller engine but definitely makes more power than the stock 2.0

I did not look into the newer turbo colt clutches, i think an NA FWD flywheel and clutch setup from a DSM might work, I'll do some more digging and report back, at current time it looks like if the transmission doesnt shred, the clutch disc will.

So, it runs and drives. I dont think the stock radiator can keep up with the engine though.

Sorry for the small picture, this website blows. 800 pixel limit, I mean, REALLY?

Next up is diamond racing wheels and fender flares. I have the flares, just need to get measurements for the wheel order.

diamond racing wheels one, new radiator from a 2.6 liter model later 70s colt, had to massage a little to make it fit. Drove it 4 hours up to a meet in detroit, farthest I've gone since the 4g63t swap. Need to get the flares on soon.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290773321216
That's the radiator, significantly larger than my stock one.

Looks just like my wagon's radiator, just in aluminum, probably because 2.0l/2.6 are about the same. Is it a Single Row or double row? I know there was a couple aluminum ones on ebay, but they were still single row radiators.

What's the sizing and offset on those rims?

Have you got a pic of the flares or anything on the car yet?
I'm very interested to see how they look on it, and if they fit well and look good, what they're off and where they are available from.

Dave,

He's got a set of 280Z flares and that wheel combo is 15x8/15x10. I don't remember the offset, but I think it's +0mm.

I should have gone zero all around, but i went zero on the rears (15x10) and 3 inch backspacing on the fronts, so they stick out 5 inches (same as rear) instead of sticking out 4 inches (would be easier for fitment) Not sure what 3 inch backspacing means in terms of offset, but online calculators say its -38mm.

flares as tim said are for a 280, they're curing in the garage with the rubberized coating I put on them, they'll be going on this week. Thinking about painting the car satin black, body is pretty much screwed, so the satin black will give it the rugged look it deserves. here's a quick photoshop of that:
