Hi, I'm currently in the process of putting my 76 121 back to its former glory which included a turbo MA 2.0l. Its been in storage for the past 10 years and some where along the line I've lost the flywheel, being a bit of a budget resto and wanting a lighter flywheel(have a 1ton pressure plate) do any of the NA, VC or MA flywheels interchange?..
cheers, Thomas

Direct changeover BUT 1600 has a smaller clutch - eg clutch plate diameter 200mm(7.87") vs 215mm(8.5")

Why not use an NA clutch then?

When i was building my MA, i also considered using an NA flywheel, but i can't remember why i didn't do it in the end. I thought the NA was smaller, so the starter wouldn't catch the ring gear, but philip says it's a direct changeover so I'm not sure now..

I'm not sure if the smaller NA clutch would handle the power.. its to go behind a turbo MA that spins the wheels into fourth, plus I already have a 1 ton clutch for an MA/VC.. just want it to rev faster without going for a billet flywheel..

This is what its to go in..

Nice! :tu:
Have you checked the maximum outer diameter dimension
of the NA flywheel. You might find the MA clutch assembly
will fit it!

Nah, I cant seem to find anything around here for the F/MA at all, plus I don't even have a standard flywheel, is there a chance that an FE flywheel would fit or are they just completely different ?..

Just checked Trade-me. There is a place in
Palmerston North with a fairly good range
of correctly aged Mazda's - have you tried them?
If you get/are totally stuck, I can get you one,
but the freight for a flywheel from Oz to NZ is going to be
astronomical!!!!!!

yeah I know the one, was hoping for something more around my area, there's still a couple of wreckers that I've yet to try.. there are a lot of fe parts flying around, do the flywheels off these have any relation to the F/MA flywheel?
