KPGC10 to be displayed at 2012 Le Mans Classic event

Just a quick heads-up for those who may be interested:

My 1971 KPGC10 'Hakosuka' Skyline GT-R 2-door Hard Top race car is to be displayed by Nissan France on their stand at the 2012 Le Mans Classic event, which runs from 6th to 8th of July:

As far as I'm aware, this will be the first time a genuine KPGC10 has set foot on French soil. First time on European mainland, in fact.

I'm hoping that the weather will be good enough to enable the car to be displayed - for at least some of the time - with its bonnet up, so that visitors to the stand can see the 'heart' of the original GT-R - the S20 twin cam engine. If not, and I'm around, I'll open it for viewing ( rain or shine! ) for anyone who asks.

Bit of a long shot that anyone who regularly visits this forum might be at the Le Mans Classic event, but you never know.....!

This year at Le Mans Classic, 109000 spectators, 450 classic race cars racing all night long, 8000 club cars, and a lot of rain. It's such a big event that you can't see everything.

When I was watching Quali on Saturday for the British Grand Prix last weekend I figured those torrential downpours might make it down to La Sarthe... What's a LeMans event without rain, yes? Glad to hear you guys met up and were able to enjoy the cars regardless!

Just a fantastic display. Really striking with the pair of white cars grouped together, against a black background. Hopefully it created a real stir.

Not really! It was perhaps a little bit high up on its podium ( no way for anyone to see the engine from ground level, even if I'd had the bonnet open ) and a little bit outshone by some illustrious historic Le Mans 24hrs race participants in the 'Concours d'Elegance des 24 Heures' section that the Nissan display formed the backdrop to - including the post-resto debut of Okano san's '67 GT40 MKII B - chassis no. 1047. Still, it was worth it just to be able to show it to the few people that did express a strong interest. If only the weather had been a little kinder.....

yeah not suprised in the least... seems a lot of gt-r owners minimize the fact it's even a nissan, let a lone a skyline successor
