Carroll Shelby died last night at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. He was 89.

He needs no introduction to Shelby Cobra fans(the Cobra just celebrated its 50th anniversary two months ago), but Shelbys' company, Shelby American, was responsible for preparing the Toyota 2000GT for SCCA production class racing in the States for the 1968 season. Shelby's company is still in business, now in Las Vegas.

sad day for ANYONE with a car-loving bone in them at all. I read a thing in Hot Rod magazine a couple years ago, where they sort of interviewed him, showing him old pictures, and just with the way he talked, and his attitude, he seemed like a really cool guy. anybody else read that article?

This is really sad news. This guy was a true tuner that couldn't settle for the norm and an inspiration to so many. He continues to inspire.
