The number of RX2s imported to the U.S.

That's nearly half of the total production of RX2/Rotary Capella that came out of Hiroshima. I stumbled across that info from "Collectable Automobile" April 1995 edition. 1971 being the fewest and 1973 being the most.

Five thousand two hundred and nineteen.

The number of R100s imported to the U.S. but that only accounts for about 5% of total production of R100/Familia Rotary. 1979 being the fewest and 1971 being the most.


What about the RX-3 and RX-4?

Anyone have any info on importation numbers on these?

286,757 Rx3s were produced 1971-1977 (calendar years not model years). I believe most of the 78,000+ wagons were sold in the U.S. as this was the main market for this version. The sedan is the rarest in the U.S. as it was only sold for a year or two and the coupe (about 160,000) was sold everywhere.

Hi John. Many years ago when I started a website about the 1800's I wrote a letter (snail mail) to Mazda headquarters in Hiroshima.

I didn't really expect to get a reply since Mazda North America office didn't bother to. Anyhoo, I was elated to one day receive a letter from Mazda Japan and they provided me with even more information than I had requested. Asking only about the 1800 models, they provided me with a breakdown of all 'Luce' models which included our RX4.

They seperated it into three categories H= Hardtop, S= Sedan, W= Wagon. I am assuming the hardtop would be 2 dr. models and sedan 4dr.

Has anyone started a RX2 Registry? I know there is one for the Cosmo Sport and I think there is one for the RX3 but I don't think I've ever run into onefor RX2s. It would be interesting to see how many are left.
