...Man. Don't remind me of Lotus Esprits. I learned the hard way once, and I don't need to learn again

The only thing I miss is the steering being super light at any speed above a crawl, that one is later though, and probably is power steering equipped. In retrospect, it isn't beat by my Z in terms of steering feedback and sharpness, blame the wider tires... And it felt as rigid as a noodle, floppy floppy, with cowl shake.
But it could GRIP. The performance (4 cyl turbo) was good on paper, but best left on paper; it never FELT as fast as the sub 6 second 0-60 time that it was supposed to have, though I never did find accurate numbers or period road tests of the US, Bosch injected model. You had to rev it, and it sounded and felt like it was going to be destroyed whenever you did. Probably 50% true.
Not a panel on it fit right, and that was probably factory. I loved that car when I had it, til it broke my heart one too many times, and I'm still not sorry to have seen it go...
If I have another Lotus, it'll have a Toyota engine

My Z is a revelation after a mid-80s Esprit though.
