Early TX Nana Gem

Well I sold the Irmscher and got this Early model ..
Its a early 1975 TX .

While most other "Holden" Geminis were actually built here from a collection of Isuzu / Opel and Holden parts , This little baby actually came on a boat from Japan and got badged as a Holden.

The first few months of complianced Gemini's were imported from Japan to fill Holdens supply of stock while they made there own , it has many differences compared to the later TX Geminis Built in 1975 by Holden . well something like that anyway.

Before i got it

It has a G161z , Early H/D Type 4 speed with a 32/36 Webber and Extractors .

Fair bit of rust under the RH door is kinda scary , think i found some expanding foam in there after a small poke

Found a key for the boot , was squashed shut , Using a screwdriver i managed to pop that without damaging it anymore

Its taken a hit in the rear Beaver Panel

rear bumper is okish , but also dented here

Engine came not running with a small head gasket problem :lol:

Floors are very good

Drivers Sill panel needs to be replaced

Removed the Drivers fender , it was siliconed on .I found some f/glass repairs in a few spots .

Lower Drivers Sill

Pedders and kings dont look very old

Bootpan f/glass repairs

Rear seat is out and fuel tank also.The filler neck was damaged and the old fuel had to be drained anyway , dam it stank ..

Grille is out and stored away.

Can be fixed , but still sadface

This is how it sits now - with no springs in it LOL .. I fit some Swift rims i had here to it , not sure if ill stick with them.

Early on i Fit my "Fashion Pack" Factory interior i found , fits well with the old school theme.

question: are most engine parts still readily available in oz? or no?

Still Plenty of these 4 door sedans floating around but most are not in good condition. Ones like this are usually scrapped as people cant be bothered fixing $400 cars. Good Early model panels and bonnets/bumper are getting harder to find and reproduction parts dont really exist . Engine kits and suspension gear is still being made . But Mainly its a s/hand market .
Its funny, Opel only made Kadetts for 2 or 3 years and they still make new panels and bonnets . Australia made Geminis for 10 years and Sold enormous amounts of them yet dont make repro parts.

, love the car. I wish we got Geminis here in the US, closest thing is an early I-Mark but dayum they are rare!

Fashion Pack Restoration begun . 1st stage removal , and as expected not faded

I carefully removed them from the back with a stanley blade - scraper and unpicked the staples.

I now have all the skins off and the look mint inside .

I attackd the seats next , i had to remove all the clips holding the vinyl on and then it simply comes off ..

love that interior! shame about the rust in it so far, but that is fixable! I too have found expanding foam in sill panels on cars i have previously owned!
you going to keep it red?
