...I have a 2 speed Toyoglide. Yesterday it started grinding just by me simply touching the shifter or pulling up the knob to shift between gears. Now this morning on the way to work car won't shift into second gear. I dont drive the car much and last time I drove it and checked the fluid it was good and no leaks present. What could possibly be the problem now?

Also If I end up needing a Tranny rebuild, are they any options out there for a manual transmission that will bolt up to this 3R-C motor? I need to get this car running right spending the least amount of money I can.

Also is there such a thing as a lever that comes from the transmission and links up to the throttle or carb linkages? I have a free loose lever and I moved it yesterday...

I think thats the problem, the kickdown lever isnt linked to anything its just sitting there...

You might be, or someone that might know may not visit often. I would say may just check all linkage and maybe change fluid. Just guessing. But post what you find here cause I dont think your the only one with a corona.

what are you shifting again? trying to go from 1st to 2nd? shouldn't there just be a drive option. Im going to UTI and have gone through auto trans, we've been taught about glide transmissions.

This just sounds iffy, it may be linkage. but if its not the linkage its the clutch pack. i might not be correct but in the trans there should be a 1st-R clutch pack then maybe that overdrive clutch pack, if it is, then its your overdrive clutch. Not sure if you wanna rebuild it, it should be simple, the tools needed would just be some sockets and snap-ring pliers

Heres the verdict from an ex-UTI student myself here in Orlando. (School sucks by the way). The grinding comes from the started being engaged. The ignition switch gets stuck in the start position, as soon as I touch the shifter the NSS (nuetral safety switch) activates giving the starter the signal to start the car, hense the grinding noise because the car is already running!

And then the car staying on first gear was the kick down lever stuck all the way down, right now it isn't linked to the throttle so i have it rigged in a nuetral position and no more problems.

I dont really touch the nostalgic cars, this is my second one really, first one being an 82' corolla. But with that said thats why Im here looking for help on certain things I get stuck on.

My other issues with the car are figuring out if I have a bad temp gauge, sensor, or circut...and my fuel gauge only reads to half a tank with a full tank. I need to find a fuel sending unit and dont know if they come with the pump or not and If a universal one woud fit.

ok so its not the tranny at all then, could that mean that the ignition switch is like sticky? the problem with the nss doesn't sound right because all it should do is prevent the car from starting in gear. for some reason its starting to sound like bad wiring causing power to flow to the starter when you come in contact with the shifter, possible short.
