 Post subject: 71 corona with too much play in steering wheel

with the car sitting still I can turn the steering wheel from 11 o'clock to 1 o'clock without moving the front wheels. Its kinda scary driving like this cuz bumps and un evenness of the road tosses the car around. What could be causing this from your guys experiences. any advice will be very helpful.

Have you check ALL steering components?
Steering Box has an adjusment Nut.

Yea mine was like that.

1. Center the steering wheel
2. loosen the nut on the steering box
3. tighten the screw with a flat head
4. tighten nut
5. check play and repeat if needed.

Any corrections or input feel free.. :)

Jack the front of the car up, so that both wheels are free of the ground.
Now jerk the wheels back and forth to check for play.
It's probably the steering ball joints that are worn out.
