Hi guys,

Eric & Ryan at JDM Legends just updated their blog, so I guess it's time to let the cat out of the bag.
I've bought the red car at JDM Legends.

http://www.jdmlegends.com/blog/?p=3035

It's been a complete emotional roller coaster from October to now and I can't even begin to describe how happy I am.
I'm driving it down to LA next weekend...

While I knew about this planned photo / video shoot they were going to have at Miller Motorsports park - I did not know Josh from "Depth of Speed" would be involved.
You know the footage is going to be amazing as a result...

And to top it all off, Norcal510 is taking his white hakosuka on a roadtrip out to visit JDML next week and has very generously agreed to come pick us up at SLC airport in his car...
Can't wait to see it pull up in the middle of the morning airport traffic and take us down to the shop.

-e

Nice work on that one. Love the heart and soul they put into the cars they restore.

That sounds like a fun trip. Wish my car was running and had the time. I would go with you guys. Are you going to make a stop in norcal510's area on the way back??

Norcal510 is driving up earlier in the week and meeting up with my buddy & I on Saturday morning.

We were thinking of leaving JDML by noon-ish and heading south on I15 to Vegas and then over to LA but we'll see... I'm sure we'll improvise something when we're all there... Will take lots of pics!

We should make it a yearly trip. I'm sure your car will be done by then.

Congratulations You got the Red one, I'm getting the silver one flying out in May to see the progress and take care of some paper work!
Already bought my block for a new engine next year. First hakosuka in the D at least to my knowledge.

Aside from the black one on this forum, I think that's the nicest one I've seen.

The colors, flare choice, etc. All well done.

Thanks guys for the compliments - I appreciate it!...

I thought I'd share a couple early pics that I received from JDML months ago...
Here's a pic of it after they bought it in Japan, awaiting export to the States:

A couple money shots after it first arrived in SLC:

And I just received a handful of odds and ends from Japan today from Adam @ FEAST
(Thanks Adam, everything arrived quickly and all in one piece!)

However, THIS surprised me... I didn't know Nissan provided this kind of part...

BTW if anyone needs / wants front & rear "GT-R" badges I'll be removing mine when I get the car home...

I'll be putting "GT" badges back on it as soon as I find some...

PM me, if interested...

Well done Eric, I think that's a good decision :tu: . Maybe you can start a new trend...?!

I can't tell you how much confusion I've had to deal with from people who can't tell the difference between a real GT-R, and a GT or GTX with GT-R emblems attached to it.

C10 GTs and GTXs are great cars in their own right, and I'd like to see more cars proud to wear their correct emblems....

Good one, Eric, I support your decision too :)

2000GT badges are not so easy to come by though:

At the front, I get the feeling they screw onto the plastic honeycomb mesh grilles (which generally have been thrown away in favour of a more GTResque chickenwire setup)
Image

And at the back, the badge is part of a plastic infill panel that goes between the tails (which have mostly all been thrown away years ago for the GTR-look).
Image

Alan might be able to prove me wrong, but I'm not aware that the 2000GT badges are available.

But so as long as there aren't any holes left behind on the beaver panel from removing the GT-R badge, you could just run badgeless, but there is always the 2000GT plaque on the centre console of course.

We'll see.
I'm in no rush
I'll find the badges eventually

There's a used rear badge on eBay now but with broken mounting pins

I've seen new gt2000 badges at rubber soul but they are several hundred $

Don't get me wrong I LOVE the over fenders & rear spoiler and I'm certainly not ditching those... And I really really like L28s especially when they are bored out!! :)

To be honest my fave vintage Nissan straight six' are the rally LY28 and the OS Giken TC

I certainly respect S20s but I prefer displacement and torque!
Call me crazy...

Owning a genuine GT-R is cost prohibitive and would probably be super stressful... Lol

Btw The best book I've found to really explain the trim level differences between 1500 1800 2000GT 2000GTX and GT-R is the Nostalgic Hero "C10 Skyline Complete Book"

You can find vendors who sell it on both US Amazon & US eBay fyi

And just to be crystal clear I am definitely NOT criticizing anyone who wants to rock GT-R badges on theirs...

The last thing I would want is that my personal decision of how I trim my car annoy anyone else...

Cool? :D
