Hello. Just picked up a 1975 Corona sedan 4 door. The body is pretty straight with some minor rust in the firewall and "C" pillar. The car is pretty much complete except for a severely cracked front windshield, missing some trim from the rear window, and needs new weatherstripping and window seals. It came with a 20R and 3 speed automatic. Car runs good and I'm planning on making it my daily driver.

I'm planning on swapping in a 5 speed manual transmission, lower the car, paint and body, some bolt-on goodies for the engine, and A/C and heat.

I've done a 18r-c W40-W50 swap, I might have some info if you need any but I'm not sure how much of it is applicable.

I'll post more pics in a few days. Interior is pretty clean. Car didn't come with a center console so I'll probably fab one up. I'm thinking about putting gauges in the dash where the factory radio goes and add a radio to the center console under the dash. We'll see. Its all about how much $$$$$$$!

I would actually like some info on this swap as well. I would love to do a W50 swap on my 8r-c because 4 speed just sucks on highway and the engines are similar.

Thanks RT105Bong. I'd like to lower my Corona but I don't want to cut the original springs. King Springs in Australia quoted me $325 for their front lower springs shipped to CA. I remember you (and a few other Corona builds) used front coil springs from a Ford/Mazda Courier truck to lower your car. What year Courier truck coils did you use? Was it the 4th Generation version (1978-1985)?

Hey Presamax, I'm running the lowered kings in my 104 atm. Thoughts are:

great lowered stance
good street manners
Spring rate needs to be much more aggressive because it dives heavily under hard braking. (autox video in my thread to give you an idea)

Now when I was enquiring about king springs, they said that "Holden FC" springs had the same dimensions and were lower and stiffer (confirm this with them). It might be worth looking into.

Hi Long. Thanks for the advice. I'm taking the advice of RT105Bong and went ahead and ordered some "heavy duty" replacement springs for the 4th generation Mazda/Ford Courier truck (Moog Suspension part # CC250). They're suppose to fit and be shorter/thicker than the stock coils in the Coronas. They were actually on sale from Rock Auto and I paid $54 delivered. It's going to be a while till I try to put them in but I'll definitely keep you posted.

I'm still on the hunt for some trim pieces and a pedal (clutch/brake pedal) assembly for my 5 speed swap. I'm going to focus on the drive train first then the suspension later.

Car is in pieces. Ordered some engine goodies (carbs, cam, header, and doing 5 speed swap). Once its back together, I'll take some pics.

Still looking for clutch/brake pedal assembly and rear window passenger side trim piece is anyone has anything. Thanks.

Still working on the engine. I really like the BBS RS wheels but they are pricey. Came across some 16 x 7 +23, Enkei 98 wheels for a good price. I'm planning on powder coating the mesh (maybe gold or black) and polishing the lips. Hope to get the car on the road soon.

Great buy for the price

some floor shift autos have centre consoles, works perfectly in a manual. its very easy and cheap to move the head unit down to the console, just cut a bit of tin to fit the original hole.

Thanks for the info Corona-extra. Hard thing is to find a center console. Unfortunately my floor shifting 3 speed didn't come with a center console.

No updates. Been busy with work and no time to play.

Car is coming along slowly. Got some goodies from LC Engineering (Cannon intake, 45mm Webers, mild cam, and headers). Still trying to complete the 5 speed manual swap (thanks to RT105Bong for the pedals and trim piece).

Need some help/advice/guidance:

1) What kind of clutch and flywheel do you gurus recommend (gonna be running a W50 manual transmission out of a 1980 Celica)?

2) With regards to the carb horns, should I replace them with the K&N filter or just add the slip on "socks"? (car is going to be a daily driver);

3) Distributor suggestions?

4) Stick with the 45mm Webers or "borrow" a set of 40mm Webers from my cousin?

I'll have a bunch more questions in the future. Once the car is running, I'm going to work on the suspension, paint and body, and interior. Here's a pic of the engine bay. Thanks.

I'm using an exedy oem clutch and pressure plate but would recommend forking a bit extra for a heavy duty item. that's if they are available over there.
