Irwindale Speedway Closing!!! =(

This is truly a sad time for Southern California race enthusiasts. Irwindale Speedway is closing.

I saw that. It looks like they lost a lot of the sponsorship and that killed them.

As sad as this may be, I think the closing of Riverside Int'l Raceway and Ascot Park in Gardena was worse. I grew up about a mile away (as the crow flies) from Ascot and loved hearing the races very Friday night during the summer. I believe it was sprint cars racing; you could hear their exhaust fade and crescendo as the cars went around the track. I believe the track was closed because the land became too valuable.

No rolling smog exemption? Insane environmental regulations? And crushing cars for street racing when all of the strips are closing? I don't know how you Californians do it...

The only thing california is good for is buying jnc's and removing them from the clutches of the EVIL C

That, and all the good looking woman, and some of the sunshine. I think san diego is the only place I actually enjoyed. Would suck to live there but it's nice to vacation in between jobs.

Oh, how i miss the days of working on the ge 7h turbine down in romoland, and seeing all the drug dealers come out at night and deal in the lobby of the super 8 hotel....
