Fellow C10 owners,
(I'm still getting used to how that sounds ... lol...)

How many of you have the optional 4piston MK63 calipers on the front of your C10?
While you probably have 15" or larger rims on your car, have you tried to fit 14" steelies?

Or let me ask the question differently:
Did you cars come with a spare steelie in the trunk? Is it 14"?
Does it fit over the MK63 calipers?

I need to source a spare for my C10 before I drive it home...
Thanks,

-e

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. My C10 still has the stock 2 piston calipers. How do you like those brakes?

i can't tell you much about how the mk63 calipers fare vs others...
i'm driving it home in 3weeks - can't wait...

the stock 2 piston calipers you have are more than likely the same as the ones on the 240Z, and I have one of those.
those calipers are decent enough but on the track & combined with the stock solid rotor can be pushed to fade relatively easy.
that's why on the Z I'm running Z32/R32 calipers with vented rotors... MUCH better - night & day.

bump

i posted the same question and Alan (HS30-H) came back with a great answer. See it here if you're curious:
http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/show ... 3-calipers

In short, 14" steelies will fit over MK63 calipers and depending on offset would only require a small wheel spacer (3-10mm).

Good info to know. I wonder how tough it is to find some of those MK63 calipers.

Do you have any pics of your C10? Did you pick one of the ones up from JDM Legends?

As Alan indicated in the other post, MK63 calipers come in two different applications:

For use with stock 9mm thick solid rotors, and for 20mm vented rotors.
They come up fairly regularly on Yahoo Auctions Japan, and I'm sure some of the C10 shops in Japan could sell you some refurb'ed ones as well...

If you want vintage OEM sports option then they are the way to go.
If you want to upgrade to more modern, there's plenty of kits in Japan that use Nissan R32/Z32 4piston aluminum calipers (but even those come in two different widths too).

Quick FYI update guys:

A stock 89-94 240SX 15x6 steel rim will fit over the optional MK63 calipers.
It does howerer require a 5mm wheel spacer not to rub due to the 240SX' different offset.

Stock C10 rim size was 14" with 6.45 s14 tires which equates to a 175/70R14 or 185/65R14

Maybe this is useful info for someone else?

If you don't care about brand you can also use 86 Toyota 4x4 calipers they are almost exactly the same as the mk63 brakes and are direct bolt on you will have to shave off 2 mm off the backing plate or just don't run a backing plate and it works fine I have them on my 4 door works great and cost me $20 bucks from the junkyard
