Up the R30/31 thread goes!

Trying to decide whether to run 17x9" Work Madels or 18x9" Stich Mesh (S1 I think). Hmmmmmmmmmmm.......

Both will need spacers (hub & wheel Centric - Made to Order from here http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ - Great Service and I'm told "USA Quality!").

Possibly,
might just come for a look, handles and steers like ass.

Orions red coupe looks clean!

Union76, option two for me.

Keep the pics coming lads.

Question:
Thinking about selling the super lights for some watanabe goodness (pending brake clearance of course)
15"
or
16" diameter?

Or what about a 15" and "16 Staggered combo?

Hmmm

Stick with the Superlites.
Wats will look almost exactly the same/car looks good now.
R30s and 31s look good on 15s or 16s.
Wats look good in 14s or 15s.

marc,
only problem with 15" wheels is brake fitment.
Im running s14 4 spots and had to shave parts of my caliper down to clear the wheels.
AND run 5mm slip on spacers.

I was browsing the net this morning looking at wheels, so expensive :(

I currently have 15x8 -9 front
15x8 -4 rear.
Thinking about going to a 15x8.5 -6 rear.
This is to suit standard body (no flairs)

im going to run the standard brakes to begin with i think and work a way to mod them a little?

i here what your saying though. your fronts are perfect i just want wider rears if your fronts are 15x8 i wonder if the rears need to be 15x12 to get this look?? very pricy. there was a pair on IM for about 800-900 from memory.

i posted on sau as well about the whole idea

Yup, 15" Watanabes are perfect. Have a look at this guy's DR30, somewhere on his blog he mentions the wheel widths and offsets he runs. It's in Japanese though, so just run it thru a translator.

15/16" stagger I dare say might make the front end of the DR look sky high as it will have so much less guard to rim gap in the rear.

THIS DR is probably the best 15" fitment I've seen, spot on.

As for the brakes, have a look at my thread.
I wouldn't be surprised if you could use this mod on a 30.

that pic floody posted.
15x8.5 -6
15x8 0 196/60 all round.
And yes, its sweeet.
Tempted to copy the wheel style and colour.

Marc,
I'll see if I can hunt down some old owners of the watanabes ive had over the years and ask about brake clearance.

31gun and marc,
those 2 spots wont work on dr30 struts unless you machine the dr30 hub down to convert it to a floating disk style (ala s13, s14, r32 etc)
as the dr30 uses datsun style hub-bolted-to-disk.

If you go up to 16s there is definitely a offset/face style which suits R32 calipers in the Watanabe range.
Maybe 15"...Email otomoto and get them to ask?

it appears that Wantanabe only make 16s at there widest 16x9.5 id think the above car i wish to emulate has at least 12 inch wide rear wheels? they make a 15x12 but im having mixed thoughts on size,

its only the front im worried about when running 15s i just wonder if they fill the guard enough??

brakes are not a major issue imho ill run smaller standard DR30 brakes if i have too, of course id like the 4 pistons but, will see how it comes together.

what are peoples opinions on 15v 16?

15s for me, I'm a purist

Saw a link today to a minkara blog where some guy test fitted 15x9s to his DR30. Will see if I can find it again, it's in my browser history at the office.

They still look good without flares though. Think this is the same car seventhskyline posted above.

Stich Mesh 18's (off my hr31): with a little better fitment, they could also go on here.

Don't know about you guys going back/down to 15-16's, not for me.
