It's a pretty hot topic right now in California but red light cameras can be fought and won. Statistically there are more crashes at camera intersections due to people trying beat the red light. Tickets are also issued for people making right turns. :td:

If you're guilty, then just own up to it, but if you feel you didn't break any law then it can't hurt to fight it.

Here's some info on fighting a camera ticket in that state of California.

I've only experienced speed cameras in Arizona, two tickets in two miles :x In the middle of the desert. I didn't even have fun doing it, I was in a Blazer :P I've heard that they've lately found those tickets too expensive/difficult to enforce, and thus removed the film from the cams.

I just moved from the IE to OC, and am happy not to have to deal with the stupid things people do because of the red light cams... Guess the city I live in has banned them, from the above link.

I've always figured that if you didn't notice the red light, you won't notice the camera, so there's a likelihood of someone getting creamed anyway. If you do notice the camera and still run the red, that probably means you looked first, and are just going to saunter on through without smashing into anything. Running red lights can be tragic, but a camera won't save lives; hire more cops if you want safety.
