Opened the storage unit up Monday, dropped in a new battery and fired her up! Still runs pretty good, haven't messed with the motor much yet and don't plan on it till I after I ship the car out to WA. Spent that evening and part of Tuesday cleaning up the paint, used Turtle Wax's Rubbing Compound with Heavy Duty Cleaner then finished up with Mother's Wax and this was the result. Obviously it's not perfect, but considering what it was before it looks awesome! 8) Having a hard time finding some 13" tires out here in WI, though .

Oh, knew I hadn't updated this on here, car is now here in WA at last. It's down in Tacoma at the shop where my motor has been being built. Head is done, so now reassembly can commence! Then eventually the swap in, got a lead on a W58 transmission so I'll be picking that up soon, then I just need to get a suitable rear end and I'll be done for the hard to find parts.

Picked up a R154 trans with adapter housing and clutch yesterday, also got another set of stock wheels out of it (rust free compared to the ones on the wagon). Just need to get a starter, and new pressure plate for that to be ready for installation.
Pretty much spent 9hrs driving roundtrip for parts, had to drive all the way down to Vancouver, WA.

Looking good Tim.
As for the rad, I just took measurments of what would fit then trolled ebay looking for something the right size with correct outlets.
I grabbed this for mine but it is probably a little far away for you, lol

I used an early sigma radiator for mine and it still (mostly) lined up with the 4G motor. Don't think you boys got them though. Sapporo maybe? or Starion (conquest up there, right?)

In fact, I used a slightly modified Starion botom radiator hose on mine (just had to lengthen a straight section) but sill me insisted on a Starion water pump (for the heater plumbing) so that might be the way to go if it fits.

BTW, there's plenty of room for that IC behind that bumper bar Image

Jason, I found a Griffin Aluminum Radiator on Ebay, bid on it last night and won, thanks for that advice! :tu:  $75 + shipping for a total of $94 is cheap considering that specific model goes for $300 new!
Radiator specs
4 Core and dimensions 22x13x2.5"

Not actual pic, but this is how the model looks

Tj, Sapparos are rare, Starion/Conquests are more common than those, Mitsubishi imported the Starion themselves and under Chrysler as the Conquest here, thus Starquest! I was actually going to snag the radiator off a '84 narrowbody that I was attacking for parts at the junkyard today, but it was full of rust and looked to have been welded/repaired once already so I passed on it. I did however snag the Clutch Pedal, the oil cooler, trans and mount (for swapping the Wagon to manual). Forgot to take off the gas pedal so I have to go back sometime this week to get it, need it for the Wagon since the current setup is a throttle linkage :td: not a cable.

Yes, Jason that is the same tarp you sent me with the GC tails!

Made the long 10hr roundtrip to Vancouver, WA for the Hilux rear end and engine harness and even a front case that is more suitable for a rebuild than the one that was on the motor before the rebuild. I'll take measurements in the morning and compare the size to the Wagon. Anyone know off hand to figure out what differential is in it by looks? It's off a 70-early 80s truck.

Evo 8 intake should be here Thursday, I also ended up coming home with a clean front case assembly in great shape, just need to get new seals and drive gears. Radiator to arrive between friday and next week.

Is the new rear end LSD or open wheeler?

If open wheeler, make sure the car is out of gear, jack the drive wheel up (usually the R/H side) and spin it two full turns. Count the rotations of the tails shaft/Drive shaft/Prop shaft and you will have your ratio :tu:

If it is a LSD, raise both rear wheels and turn the tail shaft until the wheels make one full rotation, the amount of times you need to turn the tail shaft is your ratio :tu:

Hope this helps

It's probably an open differential, I don't think (not sure) any our early hiluxs had LSDs.

For now this is the pic of the rear and front case pics
Image

Front case I will be rebuilding instead of dealing with the one originally off the motor, more than likely the stock one would be like the rest of the vr4, snapping bolts left and right..

Gears aren't too bad, however I'm getting new ones regardless!

First thing that is getting swapped in the morning is the Hilux rear end then pulling the G32 and trans out!

Held off on welding the leaf shackles till the trans gets sorted out so we can get a good idea of what angle we need the pinion for the rear differential at.
