LSD celicasupra rear should have the last number odd like a F283 and so on ive got an 79rear on mine F312 which translate to 3.9 gear ratio non LSD but good find though they are getting pricey these days 500bucks or so for a complete rear end

From what I've heard you can also use an LSD from a 84-85 Celica GTS too

Well thats great info Oracles as the W58 trans is in a 84 GTS at the same JY and its already up in the air.

JY's in New York are not pick-N-pull type yards.Cars have been there for many years in no special order.

So can I assume the GTS is stock with the LSD?

only if you have the 7.5" f code carrier. if you have a 6.7" t code it wont fit  also the 84 wasn't lsd equipped only the 85 was. if anybody is looking for a 7.5" f code non lsd rear there is a complete 80 supra nearby me that runs and drives for 500 bucks. my finders fee is the trans and pedal assembly though and you can have the rest of the car :tu:

ONLY the '85 Celica GT-S (IRS) with a manual trans came with a 7.5" (F-code) diff - F312. I've never heard of one with LSD in the US - maybe from Canada. Your best bet for an LSD carrier is out of a Mk II Supra or a truck.
All other RWD Celicas - '71-'85 - (NOT Supras) came with 6.7" (T-code) diffs, and none of those had LSD.
All Mk I and Mk II Supras came with F-code diffs, but only Mk I's from Canada had LSD. Many Mk II's had LSD.
Mk I's are SRA, Mk II's are IRS. All have 4-wheel disc.

LOL - but no matter where it sits, both axles DO turn the same direction!

F is your ring diameter
30 is your gear ratio
2 is LSD or open

in your case 2 is NO LSD

Usually a good rule of thumb is odd number (3, 5) is LSD

The '78-'81 Celica 2000 GT outside the US came with LSD. It's shown in the Haynes repair manual, in the parts list and also in the sales brochure. I have a sales brochure that I can scan and post.
