seals are pretty universal and a good industrial place will probably have the size you are looking for. mic'n them out can help ya find seals no longer available from the maker. That 2 stroke seal you could probably find through a industrial supplier assuming it was the seal in the picture that you didnt remove.

Definitely top notch work!

I'm now working 7 days a week so I have like zero time to do anything, but I can't keep this up for long, it's killing me, haha. I'll be back down to a normal schedule soon enough. Having said that, I did get into the Bellett some today, expect updates on that soon!

As for the MItsubishi, I thought I would post some before after pictures!

Turned out pretty good! It's having some trouble starting up, I think I'm going to need to change the plugs again and maybe tweak the carb a bit. When it's running it's great, but cold starts it's reluctant and hot starts it gives me a backfire usually.

It's really neat that you took the car back to the exact same spot! It's come so far since those first pictures. You've done a really amazing job (are you tired of everyone saying that yet?). Have you showed the car to the people you bought it from? You could find out how much the Celica is going for. :lol:

I did take the car back to the place I got it from but the Shacho was at the auctions that day and I haven't been back out yet to try to catch him in the office. My company has switched to the Toyota schedule of working Saturday and Sunday and taking Thursday and Friday off (and bombarded me with 2 people's worth of work; doing lots of overtime every day) which really makes it difficult to catch guys who run normal shops in the shop.

I haven't been able to get the Mitsubishi out because it's either rained or threatened to rain everyday for like the past two weeks! Today was clear enough for me to break it out though. I snapped some family photos before cruising around for the day!

I think they both look pretty good!

So my birthday's on August 23rd but my excellent girlfriend had a kind of surprise party tonight with my friends!
I got a really sweet binary watch (ya, I'm a huge dork, this thing is awesome) and this epic cake! Seriously, this thing was amazing!

Apparently she gave a picture of my Mitsu to the cake shop and they drew it on. They did an absolutely amazing job!

In my family we've always had a tradition that on your birthday, you get to cut the cake however you want. Well, I vow to continue that tradition for the rest of my life, so I cut it exactly how I wanted, haha.

It was delicious and didn't taste like 2-stroke oil at all, haha.

Not a bad birthday if I do say so myself (even if it isn't for another 2 days)!

That's a really boss cake, man. There's an SA22C-shaped pan on eBay right now that I may need to buy.

The side profile of that car is really simple, you should bend up a cookie cutter and bake/decorate little Minicas with your woman. Vanilla ones in white, mint ones in pale green, and chocolate ones in beige. Damn, that sounds delicious.

It was a pretty sweet cake, apparently all she did was give a picture of the Mitsubishi to a cake shop and they took it from there! It would be awesome to bake cookies, except no one in Japan has a full size oven, everyone just gets though mini sized microwave oven things. Baking cookies wouldn't be very fun when you can only do about 6 cookies at a time, haha. That's one of the things I miss the most from home, haha.

Anyways, speaking of awesome things the girlfriend has done for me, one was to solve my "I need stickers problem"! During the restoration I had two stickers that didn't make it. One was the tire pressure sticker on the door and the other was the choke sticker above the ignition. So I snapped some pictures of them before they got destroyed.

She then took the pictures to work and during her lunch breaks worked on recreating them in illustrator. Then she printed them on paper a few times to double check the size and color and sent the data off to get professionally printed. They arrived just a few days ago and were absolutely stunning!

And installed on the car!

Yup, my girlfriend is awesome!
Next up, trying to plug the leaks on my transmission. I'm just about fed up with it enough that I'm ready to rip the whole transmission out and replace all the seals I can!

Hey David, glad to see this has come to an end, well as close to an end as any rebuild gets, lol. It has been an awesome journey we have all enjoyed, for this I thank you. It is a truely inspirational build for all of us in the process, for this I thank you. You have returned a little car that had zero international exposure to a wonderful mini car that we all love, for that the resto world thanks you.

I gotta apologize for being MIA so much lately, my co-worker quit his job and his responsibilities got delegated to my desk until we could get a new employee in to help. Needless to say, trying to handle two people's responsibilities has really taken it out of me, haha.

Cam, the ignition decal, roughly translated, says two things. The top half says "When starting pull out the choke and don't press the accelerator." The bottom half say "When driving at speeds above 70 km/h pull the choke out half way." I'm guessing to richen the mixture up a bit and keep the pistons cool, cause if you're pushing this little car hard enough to hit 70 km/h your pretty much going flat out, haha.

I have sad news though, the reason I haven't been driving is due to a transmission leak that keeps getting worse and worse. Finally, it got so bad I was afraid to move the car. I put it up on stands, took both plugs out and had a look around. Found this!

Yikes, that's a pretty big crack right on the bottom of the plug, I guess all those times of pulling it out and putting it back in to check the level while it was slowly leaking finally did it in (probably put a little too much oomph on it one time and cracked it...).

Of course, the proper way to fix this is to pull it out and weld it up. To do that though, you have to pull the motor out. Pretty much everything has to come back out. Well, before I step up to that I figured I'd give epoxy, teflon tape and Toyota black a shot.

Crack epoxied up.

Not sure how well it will hold, I filled it with fluid today, put teflon tape around the plug and tightened it down... gingerly. I fired it up and ran it a few minutes and it wasn't pissing fluid, so that was a step in the right direction. I shut it off and coated the whole outside of the plug and seem with Toyota black sealant. I'll fire it up on the stands in 4th gear to get the fluid churning really well and take a look for any leaks. If not, awesome. If so, I'll drain the fluid, and try one more thing, liquid aluminum. If that's a no go, I guess I gotta pull everything apart again... really don't want to do that though, haha.

Got sidetracked as the evening wore on as my girlfriends new car got here!

Alright, took the car for a drive today!

Not sure how much I trust this fix, but as shown before I coated the whole crack and surrounding area in some epoxy, I then filled the trans with fluid then put the plug in with teflon tape around the threads. Then, just to be sure I ran Toyota black around the entire joint. Interestingly, it seems to have completely stopped leaking altogether. It appears to be leaking less than it was before the crack was there. Took it for a few drives to try and get the fluid hot and see if once it was thinner it would leak out, but so far nothing! Let's hope it stays that way, haha.

My friend came over and worked on his car a bit today. So I snapped a quick pic of new Mitsu and old Mitsu, haha.

The sun was disappearing fast when he finally finished up, but I took some more pictures anyways.

31 years difference, but might as well be comparing a pet turtle with a full race horse, haha.

Info on the Evo. It's an Evo 5 with an Evo 6 front bumper on it. Stock turbo, but upgraded intercooler and radiator. HKS cams, HKS cam gears, HKS downpipe, HKS boost controller and turbo timer, HS computer, Cusco engine and transmission mounts, several Cusco chassis braces, Ohlins coilovers with Swift springs, Ralli art strut tower bars and polyurethane or pillow ball joints have replaced every standard bushing in the car. There's probably quite a lot that I missed. Car is a freakin rocket!

Alrighty, now that it appears to be back up to non-leaky status, expect more updates!

Alright, time to bring this thread back from the dead!
I brushed the old 360 off last weekend, woke her up from her long winter slumber and went out to snap some pictures with the Sakura before the all the beautiful leaves were gone. Just to make sure that the photos turned out good, I made sure that my wonderful girlfriend stood next to the ride for a few photos as well!

I got a GoPro camera for Christmas, so as soon as summer finally makes it here (and the bloody rain stops) expect some video of this little box of immense noise (air cooled two strokes are loud)!
