Question?

How hard do you think it would be to convert a 2 dial dash into a five dial
dash.
I am thinking, a bit of fiberglass, some new dials and some spit and polish
and bob is your fathers brother.

thoughts?

Hey guys,

Does anyone know if you can get new door skins for 323's?

I have just pulled mine of and its a bit farked to say the least.

I'll repair it if i have to, but i think that a new one would be much nicer.

Anyway a few other updates, I have been really struggling with the 323 wandering all over the road due to its
stuffed ball joints, so as its a long weekend i ripped out the suspension and replaced the ball joints.

I had to buy a press from supercheap to get them out, and it was still not an easy job, due to the fact that
I never had any of the correct size tubes to use on the press. however with some dodgy makeshift blocks and
a large socket i managed to get them out and the new ones in.

I also painted the lower control arms up, and replaces the tie rod ends.
still waiting on some other rubbers to finish it all up though.

Does anyone know the best way to press new rear wheel bearings on to axles?
got them off ok with a dremel.

I also started to repair my door, welded in some new steel into the skin.
a skim of filler and it will be sweet. The frame needs quite a bit of work though to get it
fixed up

Hey guys, has anyone change the rear wheel bearings on a 323.
I have pressed the new bearings on to the axles.
However the bearings appear to be slightly oversize compared to the axel tube.

Is this a press fit?
They seemed to come out easy enough

sheesh, it been ages since i last was on here.
work has been taking every second of my time.
Anyway, so I have managed to get the rear wheel bearing sorted.
and all the suspension back in.

Then in my stupidity I found a bit of rust and followed it. ahhhh
I have ended up pulling the front quarters off, drilling out the welds in the support panels and
cut out the front portion of the sill.

i have started repairing the area where the water feeds out from the vents
oh my god is it rusty. no wonder the carpets where getting wet.

pics to follow shortly.

I am thinking of getting a 2ltr duratec motor for the 323
any thoughts on who might be the best source for this in QLD?

For a newish Duratec / MZR you'd be looking at a
NC MX5
Ford Focus
Mazda 3

As for a rwd gearbox, an NC MX5? Some places in UK do a bell housing conversion:
http://www.retro-ford.co.uk/shop/catalog

I've thought about this a bit, I've got a 2010 Mazda3, 110kw would go nicely with my light 323... As for cost? I think it might be a bit expensive here due to the lack of Ford RWD bits compared to UK, and probably more expensive than a 12a.. A lot of fiddling with all the computer stuff too

A non turbo SR20 would be nice, a BP from an earlier MX5..

agreed that it may be a bit expensive
i was also considering the mx5 route, however where do you think the gear lever would come out?
i have not found much on gearbox lengths for these.

i have a ca18 motor that i was going to put into my ute, however that could be an option too.
