We've been asked by a few members for some updates so here's a few more pictures.

The shell is now totally rust free (though there was very little to start with.

Both doors had aftermarket mirrors fitted at some stage so we have welded these up, then apply a light skim of filler which will then be shaped to perfection.

Image

The same with both sills where the gt-x had a chrome trim fitted and the small perforation on the door has been cust out and fresh steel applied.

Image

The drivers side is now nearing completion. Maybe one more flat down to find any minor high or low points.

Image

The drivers door shut is now sorted and looking 100% better.

Image

Engine bay is now nearing completion.

Image

Rear 1/4's are shaping up too!

Image

The rear boot panel had holes from the gtx rear panel so these are welded up too!

Image

Boot floor is now ready.

Image

Just applying some filler to the welds that mounted the original trim.

Image

Front inner arches all prepped. We will apply seam sealant to the factory joins.

Engine bay looking clean

Well, she is now on a cradle having the underside prepped for paint. Bonnet all sorted, holes welded and filled and ready for paint. The boot lid also has been given the same treatment, a total of 16 hours on the bootlid alone inc welding, filling both sides for a perfect finish.

What is this "facebook" you speak off?
JNC is about as close to a social networking forum as I want to get.
Can we not have a classic style build thread for a stylish classic car?

what type of clear are you using? Im sure they probably have little to no regulations out in the UK on what you can & cant spray. Keep the pictures coming :tu:

We are only allowed to use waterbased products in the uk. The clear is a BMW manufactured product, probably the best in the market for the finish we are going for.

We will oven the shell, leave for 7-10 days and then start with 1800 grit to achieve a totally flawless finish.
