Found the car like that covered in paint and wanted to save it. Thanks for the compliments.

Atm a short stop my other toyota needs an engine rebuild, from carb to injection and from 12 to 16 valves :mrgreen:

Did you use the same zinc primer and paint combination on the springs?

Yes, zink spray on springs and black rust protectant paint over it.

What color of paint is that valve cover? Did it come in a spray can?

Can discribe it as Metallic dark mouse-grey, acryllic resin, spray can with clear coat.

Had some luck with that parts. A parts seller buys and sell those parts got them for a very reasonable price.

Due to workshop space issues stopped for a while on the project, will pick up the welding soon.

In meantime at home did some lathing of my own velocity stacks. Got the aluminum billet material from a metal scrap yard.

Body progress report:

Upper beams on front are in and welded firm, now the sidepanels of motorbay can be patched, the worst rotted area of the car.

A while ago from the updates, but still going on:

Atm busy with blasting the body for rust removal and yesterday protected it with a line-seed base carprotech liquid.

Rust appears, allready removed and must be welded.

Oil pump with increased volume is on its way too: There is a whole not so funny story around this oil pump though.

New interior roof lining has been made by me:

Dent above firewall is removed with a diy pullhammer:

Build a radio from scratch, only some parts are reused from that era original AM radio fitted in the carina.

And the original belt clips are reused and a custumised 3 point belt is to be placed.

Combined a newer corolla 3 point belt with the original 2 point belt for safety.

Yes exactly! Why is rust allways scaring away?

On the other hand: it is rather time consuming this body work and you need space, some skills, and the tools. (or the $$$) :mrgreen:
