My name is Thomas, and i`m from Norway.

This summer i bought an 79`Lancer GL 1400, one owner car!.

I got a tip of a friend of mine, he knew of this Lancer that was going to get scrapped.
So i went too take a look, and bought it right away.
The car was way to good to get scrapped, so i had to save it.

It was a lucky find, the previous owner was a 90 year old lady.
She bought the car new in 79` at the local Mitsubishi dealer.

The car has only 109000Km on the clock, latest service was back in 2000 at 90000km.
I payed just a bit more than the scrap price, it had brand new winter tires and four nice ALLY CAT alu-rims with all the center hubs still there... and a full tank of petrol! .

This has to be one of the first Lancers ever sold in Norway,
the VIN number seems to be an early one: A172A6200313

Do any body know what these number means?.

I`v been thinking about swapping the engine to a 1600 or 1800 and
a five-speed gearbox.
So i was wondering about my options?, what engine and gearbox can i use?.

wow, in norway! that's sooo cool. I was there once (in Haugesund) and saw that they actually have classic car clubs over there, I saw corvette's and malibu's and stuff cruising by it was insane!

Yes there are a lot of classic Amcar`s here, i`v had three Chevy`s my self.
And this is not the first Lancer i owned, back in 2003 i had one just like this.

I had a lot of fun with it, but it ended upside down in a ditch.
