One month ago I got a Datsun Fairlady for a budget price.
It was a parts car which was used for another lady. No engine, no transmission.

I was inspired by some rotary powered 510 datsuns and read something about madsun´s, roadsters too.

Now I found a RX7 FC TurboII accident car. Engine was rebuilt before 10k km and is running great but the chassis was involved to the accident.

I´m serching a brake booster for this project. Does anybody fit one to the roadster?

Will report how the story is going on!

Hope no one want to stone me for this project :?

Lots of information here:
http://311s.org/

Here is a 12A rotary powered roadster:
http://bringatrailer.com/2011/03/14/bat ... oadster-2/

I have only seen 1 in person at a local car show:
http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/13 ... 4614LwpWOZ

I have seen boosters fitted on RHD cars, but with a rotary maybe you will have room for one!

Dude you found that on a scrapyard in germany? Sweet :)

i think any time period correct datsun brake booster will fit.
but you might wnat to upgrade a bit since you are going for some more power so why dont use the rx7 booster?

Thanks for the links! I found the article about the 12A roadster at the beginning of thinking of this project 8)
Your gallery is nice!
->> NOW I SEE - you are the guy with the crossed out MG-Logo!!!!!
loving your car! (and the crossed out MG-Logo  )
Do you running a SR20 or U20?
Was the skyline in your latest youtube clip from a friend of you?

I will see if the RX7 booster fit or not this weekend. The Toyota MR2 (SW20) booster is too big in diameter. Here you can see my enginebay and a couple of Datsun/Nissan boosters which would fit perfect. Highest booster diameter should be 140mm. But were to get one except a new one incl master cylinder from datsport.com?

The guy who I bought the car from used some parts from mine for his own. But ... in private .. he wasn´t a good mechanic, so I was a bid sad to see his fairlady with many dents, spraid bumpers (they have to be chromed or polished stainless steel) and non-perfect running engine.
If I doesn´t get her, she would go to scrapyard.

#2 is an exhaust clamp for your car, for where the pipe passed thru the crossmember.

#1 is a lug wrench.

It usually sits on the spare tire with the long bolt going through the hole with a wingnut to secure it but it may be from a different car.

Thanks for info!

The last days I built my own frame for the roadster body which is able to rotate.
Until now it isn´t 100% finished. Wheels and studs for holding it in position are missing.

On the bottom both mounts will be linked by a 1inch steel tube and two studs on every mount to handle tension.

Next week I´m in holiday ... sadly not in Long Beach
All there have fun!!!

last weekend I could seperate the body from chassis and blast the chassis on the upper side and engine bay. This was made for the 13B swap only. If the engine is in its final position the complete chassis will sandblast and paint straight. You may think "wtf is he doing. Blasting with suspension assembled??"
No worry. All bushings will replaced by teflon or PFTE ones. Dampers will replaced by new KYB´s and so on ;-)

Here are the pics:

in less than 2 weeks I´m going to pull out the 13B from the RX7.. this is the start for a 4-week holiday. So I think I can do a lot of work and post a lot too!

Untill this divorce I made some grille-designs ... so tell me what you would prefer

Stock one:
Image

rotary design:
Image

I don´t have any grille at the moment. So I have to built it. I will use brass because a friend of mine can do nickel and chrom coating but no copper. So I can polish the brass and get a well chromed part .. ;-)

wow! nice find mate!! :)

here in switzerland it would be really complicated and almost impossible to get the ol' fairlady registered street legal with a rotary engine in i believe, and i would prefer some SR20Det engine and rebuild the rx-7 on it's own :D i've been looking for one in a while but then i bought the zed :)

anyway - keep us updated. looks really interresting what you're doing :tu:

btw, i like grille type 3 the most, but 2 and 6 are also ok. i think the other ones are a bit oversized and too much in-your-face

edit: if you're looking for some parts contact H. seiler who runs www.datsun.ch
you might check my 240Z project blog, i visited him a while ago and i posted some pictures about all the parts and cars he collected, im sure he has some parts you could use :)

Good luck on the project. I like seeing rare cars saved.

And the grille.....1 and 4 for me. I like the big emblem.
