I have posted a few photos and video of the old girl previously but thought I better start a new thread for the respray.

Not quite a build thread more a respray/freshen up.

Previously as purchased (ex rally).

Now with bare metal rub back and a coat of putty I have 30+ hours of rubbing back before the topcoat in 2 weeks(hopefully). It certainly isn't a show car but will tick all the boxes for looking good on the track. Going for a BRE colour scheme, will be the only one in Tasmania thats for sure.

It's cool to see another sedan restoration. I need to get busy with mine. Saving money right now.

Finally finally finally. After many months of spray booth delays I finally have a top coat on the old girl. Still waiting for some racing stripes and stickers and get my whhels sorted but at least I have a car ready for a race meet in October. Will post some more photos as they happen.

THOUGHTS PLEASE:

Playing around with some black plastic, obviously will fix up the letter spacing but tell me what you think of the black on white.

Finally off and racing. Baskerville raceway Historic meet 2011. Only racing in a timed event rather than an out and out race but with 18 cars on the track at once there was still some fun to be had, and what fun it was. Will hopefully post some more if they become available. (didnt pull off the BRE paint scheme as I had earlier hoped but still looks Ok).

Twin 40's for a bit more power. Apologies for the state of the engine bay, I regret not going the whole way with the respray.

Haven't updated for a while so I thought I would post a video of a bit of fun I had one sunny sunday afternoon. Certainly not the fastest of road runs but it was a sunday and its not exactly a street legal vehicle (I have a bit of a dip at 4:15 but the oncoming traffic causes me to chicken out). Anyway turn it up a listen to the twins suck in gallons of prestine Tas air and convert it into CO2. Enjoy my second love.

Just added a few more new parts. Sparco race seat, 5 point harness & window net. Just need to wire up an isolation switch and elec fuel pump and she is ready to step up from club days to full race meets. Cant wait.

Well I finally got to go racing. Had my first official race meet at the Baskerville Historic meet (Tasmania Australia). It was without a doubt the best fun I have ever had. Following is a link to the 10 lap final, I get a good start but grab 5th instead of 3rd which puts me at the back of field. This is a blessing as I end up having the best fun. Enjoy 10 laps of my Datsun 1600 (L18 twin 40's) V Datsun 1600 (L20B twin 45's). Hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
