Just got back my custom made brake lines

Finished the brake lines and did some brake bleeding. I'll probably have to do it again after seeing if anything leaks (I think there might be a leak).

Also got a couple other things done in the engine bay, but on other good news I might have a radiator soon

Bad news is I still don't have anyone to help with the wiring so I don't know when that will get done (if ever)...

BTW, is anyone ever going to install some automatic re-sizing software like other forums use, or are we all going to be stuck with image size limits permanently?

Does anyone know what this is?

The black dot on the front is supposed to be where a bulb shows light through, and there is a switch underneath. It has 3 wires going to it, but I can't find it on any of the factory diagrams or parts/service manuals.

I traced back the wires for that thing...

1 wire goes straight to the brake proportioner (passenger footwell)

The other wire goes to a spot where it splices into 3 other wires:
1 goes to the gold fuse/turn signal switch thing
1 goes to the dome light wiring
1 goes to the old radio/cigarette lighter area

Any ideas???

Here is a rad idea that should fit in the middle of your area and provide ample cooling for that motor. Will need to rig up some brackets but it may work :

Might work. The bottom outlet is on the wrong side though.

I have a 72-74 radiator coming in the mail, going to see if I can get that to work.

Got the shifter back from the machine shop and installed today. Works good, but in the photos thats in FIRST gear... So I probably need a new lever made or this one modified so its in a proper position:

Brand new 72-74 radiator courtesy Danny! Looks like its going to fit nicely too:

Note: Its hanging about 2 inches lower than I'm going to mount it, so the radiator outlet on the bottom has more room than it shows here. And if there isn't enough room, there is that overflow bottle holder tab that I can remove to get another 1.5" of space.

The fan, I'm more concerned about...

I don't think I can use the EA81 fan. I think I have to get a thin 10" fan and mount it flush to the radiator not to the brackets on the top/bottom. Those brackets stick out about another 1/2" from the radiator itself which gives me a bunch less room.

Anyway, I'll work on getting it mounted these next couple days, worry about the wiring after thats done and I know which fan I'm going to use.

Alright, I made some templates using the fan size diagrams from the SPAL website (for example, this is for the 7.5" low profile fan: http://www.spalusa.com/pdf/30100394_SPEC.PDF#view=FitH ). I picked SPAL cause they have the thinnest fans I could find at just about 2" exactly.

I took some pre-measurements to see how much room I had on the radiator, and decided to make templates for the 9" and 7.5" SPAL fans. Here are the results:

I think they will BOTH fit. The 7.5" is small enough to actually go above the water pump which sticks out so much, so that won't be a problem. And in this photo, I don't have the bottom brackets made yet so its not mounted 100% and actually the bottom of the radiator will be slightly farther from the engine so there will be even more room.

Now my question is, should I get the SPAL wiring harness to go along with the fan? There are several options, and I'm not sure what to get. Also note the fans and accessories are MUCH cheaper on Ebay than on their actual website.

While my wiring progress has ground to a halt, I got my rear trans mount and lower radiator mounts all built

I'm currently painting them, so in a few days I can assemble the entire front of the car 100%!

Rear trans mount. Had the upper bracket welded by a neighbor. Doesn't look like much, but it doesn't need to, its hidden way behind the transmission under the car:

Thats with everything bottomed out and the rear tires almost resting on the fenders.

I MIGHT be able to get it an inch lower, but I don't want to try until everything is on the car. There is sadly no way I can run it as low as it is in either photo

Low is good im a bit jealous how low you can go in US, in Australia its until first cop car then you have defect notice if its less then 100mm clearance.

There is a law here, something about the headlights being a certain height. Its not usually an issue with cops though.

Here its all the time 40% of time you passed cop car it has some Jap import car and they going through it trying to find something wrong, other 40% its d***heads on rusted commodores who love to do 80kmh in 60 zone and the rest is normal ppl who been stopped for some reason.

Amazing project Kostamojen. So cool finding you over here. I've been contemplating a vintage Japanese build of my own and a subaru is the logical choice, if I can find a suitable one.

Found a simple solution to my radiator hose issue.

Still needs a little work to get it to fit a little better, but it should work fine.

Got my second fan today, gonna figure out how to mount them.

While I was waiting, I put some fuel in the car to test for leaks (found two: Fuel sender seal and carb diaphragm, fixed both I hope).

Also tried to fire it up... No luck of course. Turns over fine with the starter, but I didn't spend much time trying to figure out the fuel/spark/timing situation. Fuel is getting into the motor though, I checked the carb to see if it was squirting.
