3Kg each. Add a little bit for the rubber seals as well. I reckon some thin fibreglass sheet would be better than sheet metal.

That'd be tempting if I could actually get away with most of that on Australian roads. I will be looking for some horns later on though.

In other news, not a lot has been happening. Got a hold of some secondhand struts that aren't clapped out like the current ones are, so I'll be swapping them over when I get some time off work. I'll probably drop the front end down another inch or so while I'm at it and drop the rear 1/2" or so and swap the dampers out for something a bit stiffer.

Also tossing up whether to pull the current motor out and redo a few seals and the water pump and timing belt or just to swap something else in.

Dropped the front down a bit more today. Also ordered a new toy which may work it's way into this sometime in the future. ;)

So yeah, an engine swap will be on the cards, once I find a motor and get my tax return.

They're off a GSX-R 600. They need some bits removed and one of the throttles taken out, but nothing major. You also need some bungs made up to block off the injector bosses. Also need a manifold made and all that jazz, but that's to be expected.

Umm, with the Megasquirt and all the associated bits and pieces, you'd be looking at about $600-700. If you cheap out and want to try running them off a standard ECU, then the throttles themselves were about $200. It should be doable, but there might be a few hitches in doing so.

This thread just got even cooler. If that was possible. What motor are you planning on building up for this little monster?

Haven't picked up a motor yet, but I'll be getting a 1 litre motor from a later model Mira. I'll be leaving all the internals standard, but between that and the throttles, it should liven things up a little, haha. If I could break 50hp at the wheels I'd be stoked.

The last few weeks in a nutshell.

Bought some more little odds and ends to do the engine swap. Did a quick (read: shit) cut and polish of the paint. Took the car out to a little car meet (as pictured above) and attended the CJSS meet the next day. Killed the old 850cc on the way home from CJSS and am currently in the process of removing it to begin the 1 litre transplant.

Still waiting on my intake manifold and fuel tank. Bay should be in colour next Sunday if all goes to plan. Motor and box are pretty much ready to drop in once it's painted, along with the task of wiring the whole lot and getting a bunch of little bits and pieces sorted to neaten everything up a bit.
