Hello to everyone from Switzerland,

It's not the first time I read your forum which I really like , especially Kev's hakosuka thread. I decided to sign in to reply to another new member from Switzerland JDMjunkies.ch and though I could also show you my baby.

It's a 1973 240z that I imported from the dry south of France. Being a european model, it comes with a five speed gearbox. It still has the original engine with about 109000km.

What else? It's a work on progress but I drive it regularly, It needs a new paint, and to change suspension parts, and later to overhaul the engine

long waited updates

Because of this during this very cold winter I worked very slowly on the suspension. I sandblasted every parts and coated them with an epoxy paint for chassis.

These are the shorter springs (black) I am going to use, compared to the original euro springs.

They come from MJP eastern auto in UK and should lower the car 38mm and are adapted to the european Z which have different spring platform than american Z. I learned this when I bought Eibach lowering spring and it didn't lower at all my car.

I then made my version of the RT mount using an old engine mount:

I also made a tool like in the service manual to torque the suspension strut. I insert two bolts in the small holes to hold the two parts together.

I ordered a complete polyurethane bushing kit from MSA specifying that I needed 22mm and 20mm bushing for the standard sway bar that come on the European model. I received the good part for the rear but for the front the only thing they have is the 21mm bushing for the 280zx and it doesn't fit. So I ended ordering this for the front:

Thanks, these rims are not from Work but copies from Drag Wheels, the model name is Drag DR20, I bought them in Switzerland from rupteur.com.

Love it

...Why does the nose look so beak-ey?

My dad had a 240z when I was young that had a similarly beaked hood... It didn't look like there was any damage. It just sort of... Looked that way. Did they make different hoods at one point?

Love the covers and bezels :)

that's just the angle of the photo

there are no different hoods for 240Zs

only difference that happened later is the addition of the louvers for 280Z

The wheels are 15x7 ET0 in 4x114.3 bolt pattern. It's direct bolt on.

Yes the bonnet is different on my car, you have a very good eye. The car had an incident in the past and was repaired this way. I bought it like that. I just remind you that this is rare in France and probably the bodyshop didn't find a new bonnet at that time. I have a new bonnet waiting. I plan to have a new paint at the end of the summer.

A little update to show that the car is now back on its wheel with fresh suspension parts. It runs very well. I drove 1000km to the Historic GP of Pau, which is one of the rare track inside a city in France, and it's also where I grew up before moving to Switzerland. Here is a video of one of the track session.
