For those curious... No, they weren't a straight bolt on. <__<;

It does get a lot of people stopping to exclaim how small they are though. :P

Thanks guys. :)

It looks pretty tough in the flesh too. If the paint wasn't so terrible, it'd probably look a whole lot neater, but I can't really afford a proper spray just yet. Maybe in the future.

Aww shucks.

Apparently this looks really tough while it's moving. I wouldn't really know cause I'm always the one driving, haha. The tsurikawa clips the road whenever I hit bumps, so it's pretty funny hearing the "tick... tick tick... tick" as you're driving along.

Looking great :tu:

I haven't touched base with you for a while, but have been following your progress.

It's seeing your Handi that makes me decide to hang on to my mine, one day I want to turn it into a motorkhana special. Time is my biggest enemy at the moment.

Look forward to seeing whats next :D

Thanks. :)

I'm kinda running out of things to do with this car that don't cost an arm and a leg, so it'll probably stay how it is for a little while now. Hopefully it shouldn't give me too much trouble in the meantime.

You may be interested that I'm going to be parting out the spare shell I've got, so if you need any spare parts, just send me a PM and I'll see what I can do. I've got a mate locally who has first dibs on any parts, but I think he'd only be after the hubs and a few little random bits. It's fairly complete still, besides missing the motor and box.

Also, probably your best bet for a motorkhana build would be to raid an M100 Sirion or L700 Cuore for the EJ motor. 1 litre, DOHC, EFI, etc. I'm finding that a lot of the EF heads crack between the exhaust valves and the spark plug hole, which is making it a little annoying to try and build my spare motor.

A fun weekend project would be usings some trim reconditioner on those bumpers and making them black again. There's a few products I use; not sure what you have access to in Oz. If you can't get the stuff I use i'll be happy to send you some, since it isn't hazardous.

looking good, getting the bumpers looking more blackish would just make it awesome!
My sister inlaw has one of these and i have dibs on it when she is finished with it, it was origionally a carby motor version but after doing 2 heads (yes they cracked in the same spot!) we found a complete efi version that had been smashed in the rear. We swapped the efi motor, 5 speed and air conditioner into hers and its a little rocket now, im not allowed to modify it yet though!
gotta say yours looks great with those wheels on it!

Thanks guys. :)

I did start to clean up the bumpers last year and got halfway through the front with just scuffing back the crappy faded bits, which is why the passenger side looks a bit darker than the driver's side. The rear bumper doesn't actually look too bad as is, but I'll probably find something to refurbish them and make them look a little neater.

If I can scrounge enough funds together, I'll hopefully get some progress made on the spare motor and build that up, but it's kind of on the back burner at the moment since I have other things to save for at the moment.

As much as I was keen to go bonkers on the original shell (which is now being parted out if anyone is chasing parts) and do a full sharknose conversion with large works fenders and 13x8/9 steelies, I kind of like having this pretty simple. A hatch lip might be on the cards later on, but that'll probably be the extent of exterior mods. The front end definitely needs to come down another 1" or so though. I'll probably drop the rear another 1/2" as well while I'm at it. I need to replace the front struts first though, cause they've seen better days. *bouncy bouncy*

Started pulling apart my old shell. Pretty much going to gut it entirely for all the spares then get the shell taken away for scrap.

Before it faded, it actually looked pretty cool. But then it faded and now it just looks like hell, haha.

Got most of the crap I had stacked in the back sorted out so now I just need to pop the glass out, drop the fuel tank and wait for a mate to help me roll it out into the street and rip out the suspension.

Image

And some antics I had before I started to strip it.

if you have nothing better to do, would you do me a solid and weigh the rear side glass?
i'm trying to reduce weight and i'm thinking of using thin sheet metal instead of the glass..

cheers :tu:
