Can any body give me a quick rundown of what is needed to get s13 coilovers to fit a DR30? Any pictures, links or help would be much appreciated.

Hey mate

Mines done it's easy you just need s13 front hubs and a drill for the rear top mounts.

Try getting r32 or 33 front brakes if you can ... The tie rods won't fit but you can die grind them or getting aftermarket ones but seriously easy job and it helps the handling no end.

Dav if you do this document it too. This is a mod I was thinking of doing along with a RB20 tranny swap.

I am starting to collect parts for this hopefully I should have it done in a few weeks. I am having some one help me out so I will try to document as much of it as I can and do some sort of write up about it.

So The coilover swap is done. I actually didn't do any of the work so I have no pictures of the process. The parts used were stance GR+ coilovers, S13 front knuckles, hubs, front brake calipers and rotors. The car handles much better, and actually absorbs bumps better too. The OEM suspension was toast. It needs an alignment but before I do that I need to source some new inner and outer tie rod ends and ball joints.

And this is how the car sits now.

If anyone wants me to crawl under the car and take pictures of certain items I would be more then happy to.

Good info. Slightly off topic but since we are on the topic of s13 struts and the Aussie guys are posting. Do you guys know if s13 struts will work on c110 W/out major mods? Since c110 are somewhat common out there figured I'd ask.

Thanks guys

ya. some with the wheel off and with it turned. I want to see how it mounts. Also if you can get a shot of how your control arm look from the front. Are they parallel with the ground or angled up or down?? What set up were you running before you changed? (lowering srpings, cut springs, homemade coilovers, etc..)

Nice, thats exactly what I was planning on doing with my DR30, I imported a set of Stance GR+ for my MX5 a couple of years ago and I've been really happy with them, so was thinking about a matching set of S13 GR+ for the DR. Only problem is that they ended up being bloody expensive after shipping, duty and GST, although our dollar is quite a bit stronger against the US dollar now which would help a bit

Ok so here goes with some help and photos!!

step one..

you will first need to source some s13/s14/a33/c31 front knuckles s14 is best if you want 5 stud.. in my build im using s13 + r32 GT-R Brakes..
Image
Image
find your brakes make sure they fit
Image
Image
next step get coilovers for an s13 pic just an idea
Image

the rears you will find to be a little to long if you want it super low..
as with my car and maybe others you may find that the rear upper shock mounts need to be changed or the mount points redrilled i redrilled mine (no photos sorry)

next you need to remove your old struts the rears bolt strait in, aside the above mentioned top mount.

Front.. you first off remove the strut first remove the tie rod ends with a ball joint/taper splitter then remove the bottom two bolts facing upward do both sides first as the Swaybar holds the lower control arms (LCAs)up then remove the brake line bracket followed by removing the brake hose from the back of the calliper undo the three retaining bolts under the bonnet and then remove the strut..

left behind you will see the LCAs with a steering knuckle attached to the lower ball joint again use a ball joint splitter to remove the r30 knuckle.

now your ready for install!!

with the lower ball joint now exposed you simply fit the s13 knuckle onto it and do the bolt up! you then bolt in your s13 struts into the upper mount 3 nuts..
Image
now you will need to go to a suspension shop or a wrecker and get some clevis bolts and nuts (the clevis attaches the bottom of your strut to the new s13 knuckle
Image
Image
you then fit your wheel bearing, brake disc, brake hose and tie rod end

your tie rod end will not go into the taper ot the s13 knuckle far enough to get a split pin through the castle nut you can get after market tie rod ends or get a nilock nut or die grind the taper slightly all of these ways work fine..
Image
Image

from there select your on level of slamadge!!!

It looks like you used 300zx tt front calipers. If so what rotors did you use to keep the four lug?
