Hi, newbie here to this site. I'm a big Honda fan. I own a 2006 S2000 and I am currently looking for an Acura NSX. My question: How hard would it be for me to find a Honda S800 in decent shape? Are there any in the States or would I have to import one from outside the states. Finally, what would something like this be worth? And how hard would it be to come across any kind of parts for this vehicle?

I've seen a few S500 S600 and S800s sell on eBay and other sites recently. For a clean running example you're looking in the $20K range if you believe the eBay auction results.

All the ones I have seen recently were in the US or Canada. The Canadian was cool (IMO) because it was LHD.

Also, my guess is that you'll probably see 2-3 per year.

Just check the bringatrailer website. If you have facebook, add them to your feed and you'll always be up to date on interesting cars for sale.

I check BAT and eBay daily just to look around at cool stuff.

Thanks for the info. I will keep an eye open. I am mainly interested in the S800 convertible. I know finding one will be moderately difficult but I am up to the task.

Anything in particular I should be looking for on these cars as I start to move forward with a search?

I was hoping to find a runner/driver in OK to decent condition for around $15K. Is that within reason?

Maybe try ebay. Id buy the best you can find that is affordable to you.

Something that's all there but needs work would probably be about that much from what little I've seen for sale/sold this past year.

u can get a runner around 15k, but it isnt exactly smooth.

My thoughts on this: Hoping to find one for around $15K and I know it would probably need some work but would be a runner/driver. OR I would be willing to pay up to $25K for one in really pretty nice shape that just needs some detailing.

Do these engines have points? If so, can they be converted over to a better ignition system?

If I recall correctly, this is the guy who helped Jay Leno source parts for his engine. No info directly on the site, but he may be able to point you in the right direction?

Well as everyone has mentioned above BAT, craigs, ebay are good places. I actually found mine on EBay many years ago. When I was on the hunt I searched multiple places daily for a few years before I found mine. These cars are pretty rare & dont come up very often & when they do you have to be ready to buy. Two more places not mentioned above are the Honda S series club on Yahoo and few other forums.

After finding mine I ended up finding a few more and actually helped another member from here find himself one. I still have a few contacts and I know of a few more that are out there waiting to be brought back to life.

Within the past few years the prices have gone up A LOT. These cars are coming more to light & are getting the recognition they deserve. We can all thank Jay Leno for that and a few other people which is a good thing. More cars are being saved and history is being brought back to life.

If it ends up on BaT you probably wont get it for under $20. Your best bet is to find an unsuspecting seller on Craigslist.
