Besides wrapping a cheap header like OBX will shorten it's lifespan considerably.

They might be inexpensive but I wouldn't call them cheap and actually the header looks pretty well put together.

now I have a problem with the Celica... :(

I was driving on the freeway in 5th gear and I start to hear this werring sound and losing speed. I try to down shift to 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st and nothing so I coast to a stop. Try 1st again and no go. Turn the car off and back on still no first. Tested all the gears by shifting to each gear and letting the clutch out, the only one I could get to work was 4th. Luckily I was able to get the car home with 4th gear.

Also I should add that the shifter is missing some of the bushing, I think it only have the plastic cup on the end of the shifter. It had been find recently except for on occasion when it would pop out of 1st when I was first take off from a stop.

Anyone have any thoughts on the possible problem and solution?

In most manual transmissions, 4th gear is 1:1 so it's basically a direct drive. Which means most likely something internal has gone terribly wrong. Broken shift fork maybe?

well... still having issues...

This is the problem with the W58 not fitting.

The W58 is on the left. See the difference with the shift lever?

So I thought maybe I could move the lever to the W58 but after removing the bolts to separate the extension housing I can only get it the far apart.

Check the MkI upgrade thread on celicasupra.com

Damon (turboMkI) has swapped a W58 into a MkI Supra.

IIRC, he used one from a MkIII Supra. The shifter location on the MkII is different than the MkIII. He said the MkIII location was really close to the stock W50 location on the MkI.

Not sure if the same would apply to an RA chassis, but it's worth checking out.

What's your dimension from the front of the bellhousing to the shifter?

I decided F it and just cut the floor so the tranny would fit... Got it installed and running... It will have to wait til tomorrow for a test drive
