A few months back i bought a RX7 from a friend. Someone was test driving it and got in a accident. My friend didn't want it and he needed it off of his property because he was moving so i bought it for $500. with plans of swapping the drivetrain in my 75 corolla wagon. but after i got the car home i couldn't bring myself to part it out.

Before the accident the car was mint, and its a rare GSL_SE model which came with a fuel injected 13b, upgraded suspension, LSD, 4 wheel disc brakes, and the most important part... it didnt have that lame mazda bolt pattern, its 4x114.3.

Other then the Eibach lowering springs, Pace setter Headers, and Crager wheels, it was all original.

So this is how i got it

good side

aww damn.

so it sat for a few months and i planned.

I picked up a fender, Turbo II turbo manifold and turbo for $100

I also picked up a Turbo II intake manifold and a FD upper intake manifold and throttle body.

Then after some nice tugs with a chain and my truck i got the front end somewhat back in place but it wasn't perfect.

I took it to my shop, replaced the master and slave cylinder (which went bad), fixed the headlight, fit the new fender, built my self a set of shortened front struts and coilovers, cut the rear springs, threw on my 15x8 +15 XXRs, rolled the fenders and this was the result.

During the process

SO

what i plan to have done by June.

-frame is going to be 100% straightened and aligned
- body work and paint will commence (painting it the same color)
-i will be rebuilding and street porting another 13b i have
-custom exhaust
-Turbocharged with a Garrett water cooled t25
-aluminum radiator
-upgraded oil cooler
-Custom rear coilovers, (i'm designing them now)
-new wheels, 16x9.
-slotted rotors
-hawk pads
-goodrich brake lines
-chin spoiler
-wangan spoiler
-bunch of other stuff i probably don't remember.

tomorrow i plan on pulling that nasty tint and getting a few motor things situated.

i will update as updates come

Normally not a huge fan of first-gen RX7s, but this is making a believer out of me...

What size tire is that? 195/45-15?

OMG that is so nice. Too often people ruin the look of these cars with modern rims, those rims really look the part.

UPDATE: i made a spoiler

So while i'm waiting to take the car to the body shop i figured that i should do a few things.

I wanted a chin spoiler because i dont like the other options i have for this car. Which are aftermarket front bumpers that change the look of the front end.

So, since i have a bunch of ABS plastic lips that i sell, i figured that i should try to make one work. (which i have done before, did you know a 97-00 prelude lip fits a galant vr4 with absolutely no modifications?) I went through honda front and rear lips, VW lips, i even tryed a 350z lip. Nothing was working out...until. I test fitted a lip from a Mazda 3. It didnt fit perfect but it was close enough that with some heavy trimming, shortening, and custom brackets i came up with this.

i am obviously going to plastic weld the middle together

side fitment

I like it, it helps scoop air into where the intercooler is going to go, its one of a kind, i made it, and if it ever breaks it will only cost me $80 and a few hours to make a new one. And i like the fact that it was originally intended for a Mazda 3

I have coilovers built by re-speed for my fb, and I had been wondering what these cars look like really slammed... The coilovers I have do not have enough adjustment to go extremely low in the front but your car has answered my question and it actually looks pretty nice. It is very good of you to straighten out this car and put it back on the road as it deserves, clean 1st gens are a bit hard to find in my area. I also like how you took of the rubber mouldings on the quarter panels, it has a nice clean look that way. I was thinking about taking all the mouldings off the sides of my car and painting the rubber on the bumpers to match the paint, however I am afraid as soon as I do so someone will slam their door open into the side of my car.. Finally, that shade of blue looks great!

Yeah that looks excellent, good effort with the repair! In my opinion the 15s are big enough for the car, I don't think you should go any bigger. Lots of guys in Australia fit 17sd etc and the cars end up looking like roller skates. Just my opinion, obviously do what you like. But I think if you got that guard fixed and touched up the door you'd have a really nice cruiser until you do all of the rest of the work.

Once again great work. And good on you for saving the car. I look forward to see your progress.
