Opinion needed

OK, so I need to ask everyone to put their love for japanese cassics aside and help me decide what would be THE BEST college car. 1978 ke30 with about 15000 into it (in the long run), or a 1978 jeep J10 flatbed with, once again 15000 into it?

Could someone give me some evident pros and cons of both. ALL INPUT GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Outta, the 2... for better reliability, cheap on gas, and virtually NO maintenance, I'd take the Toyota. :wink:

I've heard of Jeeps always breaking down(my neighbor just got rid of his '88 Wrangler... and that thing always needed repairs... 2 carburetors, a fuel pump, a tranny, and a universal joint... all in less than 6 months), or burning/leaking oil when they got older. My other friend, had an '84 Jeep CJ7... and that thing would have NO heat, even after he bought 2 heater cores... AND those were 80's Jeeps.

I can imagine, how UNRELIABLE a 70's Jeep is.

Well the 70s jeeps were ok they were huge and simple. Only thing that did suck was the carb. The carter bbd or something.

I agree on that one... my neighbor always had trouble with carbs, on his jeep. I apply, that to the CJs/Wranglers/Scramblers only.

Now, my friend has a "wide-axle" 1980 Jeep Cherokee Chief, with I think, a 360 V8. Those, I hear are reliable. All it needs, is a new paint job... and all he wants is $1000. :shock:

Thats essentially what i have, except mines a truck. Like a flatbed. widetrack.

Yes but my bed would be shortened, caged, and trimmed so it would allow maximum flex wen wheeling. Also yellow wouldn't be my color choice.

Uhhhhhh, obviously... that wouldn't be YOUR truck.

I was asking if it's the same TYPE of truck, to get an idea. Whatever color you go with, is up to you.

Toyota. Simple motor. Great mileage and requires almost no work to drive.
