I just saw that site yesterday. they also have actual daihatsu headlights for our truck. But i have no idea how to purchase things off that site.

On that site, somewhere in upper right corner there are some instructions I think, at least I thought I saw something there. Haven't try'd it yet.

Headlights are fine in my truck, they are from Lucas. I think those for sale in that japanese site are for left side traffic and mine were changed sometime when the car was prepared for swedish trafic regulations. Anyway if your aim is not a full original restoration, then I think you can find much cheaper elements that fit your truck, there are not so much different models of round headlights made generally. Probably you can find something from U.S, skip all the import taxes etc.

The car is of course rare here too, never seen another one in Sweden or heard from anyone who has either. I'm been working here for 10+years....
As much I have learned from previous owners, the first one was a flower shop who used it to deliver flowers from 64-70 here in Stockholm I assume, then the car was bought by the family who had it since then in their household, used to transport leaves and stuff from garden. Has not been in traffic on open roads since 70'then.
In its flower car servicing times it has had a gasoline-driven air-heater in the bed, that was heating the cabin thru a pipe. It's pretty cold here in winters and an air cooled engine is not ideal, I guess. Maybe thats one of the reasons why the car is'nt a popular one here.
I'm thinking that maybe someone tryed to import those to Sweden but did'nt find so many byers and dumped this bisness or smtng.

I began to think about Sonny's truck, and if it would be a L-36 then the vin-code would probaly begin with those letters, as mine begins with L-35.
But he wrote that it is a 2-cylinder so it can't be watercooled, right?

It has separate oil tank under the hood, so it mixes itself I think.
I dont have any reason to change engine, mine works fine.
Not much to do with extra power either, I barely fit in behind the wheel

No, it's going to be completely original, I might use it as a refiguretor magnet or something:)

skunk: my engine is an air cooled 2 stroke. My truck is also a L35. My VIN numbers start with L35. My engine also has a little oil tank that self mixes the oil with the gas..

skunk- the picture i posted of a blue hijet is actually a water cooled truck.. so you may be right in assuming it was a L36.

i just posted the pictures because i thought that was the front end that my truck was missing.

i recently purchased a pretty cool brochure that shows some more info on the L35 hijet. i will post it as soon as i fix my scanner.

Yeah, don't know about the perfect running condition yet then, but it will get there, I promise. Currently busy building a bigger garage.

Also, you need to travel a bit more than Sweden, because I live in Estonia and that's where the truck is also. I just work in Sweden....

For now I must figure out how to get all these missing and broken parts....which is'nt easy.

I've been thinking about your tailgate....I probably could build a replica of mine, but the transport costs to U.S. would probably kill us both.....
Also I wonder if there's a way for copying those hubcaps, plastic maybe...
