hallo there my name is stefan,i`m 28 years and living in switzerland.
i really like the JNC site,and it`s at the time to start my own thread.

i bought this c30 laurel in december last year and i really like to work on it.
he is in good condition,the last time he was rolling on the streets,was in 1989.the pre owner was loving cars and never left it outside in this 22 years.
but somebody did a lot of crap weld works,and now it`s my part to do this better to get a good basic without rust.
the last 4.5 years i was spending a lot of hours into my s14 silvia show car.
but this is my first restoration and i`m alway happy to get tips and tricks and offers for c30 parts or links.
thanks

Hello! Well, you're only the third person I know with a 1st gen Laurel (Datsun 1800). And only the second I know with a C30. (I've got a KC30) So welcome!

There's one guy on here (Eric) that has the other C30 I know of, a '71, that he installed a SR20DE into. Here's his build thread, though none of the pics seem to be good links anymore:
viewtopic.php?t=8475&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Also, for parts info, I've come across this link to the parts catalog:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/37323314/Dats ... log-300dpi

Lastly, definitely like to see some pics!

The link should work, it's got an option to download the pdf file, that's what I did. It's a really handy part number list for you car.

my restoration is still full in progress,here are some new pics.
there was a lot more to do on the driversides wheelhousing but it`s almost done.
the next steps are to replace the inner wall of the sideskirts.
i`m also ordering parts for the suspension and steering at the moment,i`m getting a full polyuterthane bushing kit,new tie rod ends(240Z),half shaft and steering rack boots(240Z),lower ball joints(510 14mm).springs and struts and dampers are coming soon too,but i have to get some infos and tips first to get a great upgrade.

thanks eric!
by the way i have some questions for you:
what about the g18 engine?
why did they stop produce them in 1970?
what are the differences to the L18?
what was positive and negative about this engine?

i know you are sr powered now,but maybe you or someone else could tell me something about this engine?
thanks

All I know about the G 15/16/18/20 series is that they were originally Prince engine designs (though there was a Nissan G15 in the early 60's, it's different from the Prince G15 the Skyline got). The G15 was being designed/produced when the Nissan/Prince merger took place in '66. Like several other things from the merger, the engine was retained and continued being produced through the 16/18 and 20 variants. The engine actually remained in production in the Skyline C110 (G18) and Laurel C130 (G18 & 20) until '75. They were discontinued due to Japan's switch to unleaded fuel and stricter emissions.

@kc30
what about upgrades to get a bit more power,weber,flywheel,header and stuff?

@datsun200L
the colors name is:shop primer chromate free! its a 1 component primer very good for painting wheel hohusing an under car areas.
for the skirts i will get another paint,i`m not sure if the red primer is compatible with 2 comp. colors.

For the G18 I wasn't able to find anything for upgrades. That's why I ended up swapping mine out as well. I've seen ones that have had headers for a different engine (can't recall which) modified to fit. I've also been told of different carbs that can be put on, but never saw it. Sorry I can't help with engine upgrades.
