Last week they made mention several times of the "bosozoku".

They said they were the younger members of the Yakuza gangs, mostly killers/drug dealers. :P

But they all rode brand new, bone stock, crotch rocket type motorcycles, with full stock mufflers.
Elvis hair and torn denim on a shiny new sport bike?
It was like they needed the name of a lower level gang that could be broken for info, without any research into what they might actually look like or ride.
But it's miles better than almost everything else on now, so don't look too hard for flubs.

That was the other part that drove me nuts... :P

I don't.

Except to say that the two lead "Hawaiian" characters are played by Koreans.

We get it here prolly next month. i used to love watching the original, so am looking forward to it. I don't expect a deep and thought provoking show, so figure i won't be disappointed

You will love it. The main actor looks for almost any excuse to take his shirt off. :P

If they remade Five-O... I hope the guy who does McGarrett's role/job at least, drives a black Mercury Grand Marquis/Marauder.

The big black Merc, was what was memorable to me, about that show. :)

1968 Mercury Park Lane(used in the earlier episodes)

1973-78 Mercury Marquis Brougham(used in the later episodes)

Being a resident of Hawaii, I hate the show. Dog the Bounty Hunter is much more palatable than Hawaii Five-O.

He drives a new Camaro, as Chevrolet is a main sponsor of the show.

But as a nod to the original, his dad drove the big black Mercury in question. And it's now in his garage undergoing a very slow restoration. There have been a few running gags about him looking for parts for it.

I just moved here to San Diego from Oahu, Hawaii 3 years ago. I kinda like the show. I love watching the scenes. The story lines could use improvement with more realness to it but overall pretty good. The show makes it seem like every criminal is brilliant and has an ulterior motive for the crime. I like it.

Dog the Bounty Hunter is more realistic. I actually met Leeland and his brother at Zanzabar (famous club in Hawaii) one night. They're just regular chill guys that happen to be in the public eye.

I rate both shows. :tu: :tu:

I heard GM jumped on the sponsorship deal with the new H5O, to get back at Ford for using a Mustang in the remake of Knight Rider, instead of a Pontiac, at the time.

The new H5O hiring GM, is kinda like a big diss to Ford... seeing since Ford provided the Ford LTD for Danno, the black Mercurys for Steve McGarrett, and the Ford police cars for the original show. :)

That's GM/Pontiac's fault. They killed the Trans Am, not NBC. :P

Yeah, you're right on that one... wasn't the Camaro/Firebird, Trans Am already gone, by the time the new Knight Rider(yeah right) came on TV?

Weren't they discontinued around 2002-03? :?

2002 was the last official production year, if I recall correctly. But they were still selling them into 2003. I didn't want one, but was sad to see them go...

Yep, me too. I like when the old nameplates come back, like in the last 15 years... Regal, Impala, Nissan Skyline GTR, Camaro, Charger, Challenger, Monte Carlo and Malibu. Although, they discontinued the Monte Carlo.

Even though, the Regal, Impala, and Malibu are now FWD... it's still nice to have them back.

Also, Nissan bringing back the Z car in '03, and Mazda bringing back the RX rotary engined car in '03 was cool, too. :)

How tall are you? My sister's '99 Ram Air Trans Am was awesome to drive, but totally not built for my 6'3" frame, in either front seat. :P
