Here's the body in the last color coat, going to let it cure for a few days and wait for the weather to get better before going foward.

Here are a couple of the early corollas They are both TE27s. I haven't seen the TE3x series in a while, but usually, what goes out of stock comes back in eventually.

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10000808

Here is a Diecast 1966 version

http://www.hwjapan.com/sh/EBR43894.aspx

Those are both of the places that I use most of the time. If Hobby World doesn't have it, usually, Hobby Search will. Both are good on the prices and shipping is not nearly as bad as you would think. My last order from them(Hobby Search) was two kits and six sets of wheels. I want to say that shipping EMS(the quicker one) was only like 12 or 15 bucks. If you are doing one kit, it is usually about 1/2 that

This is the only kit I have

It's an ARII kit to match the N360 I'm restoring.

Cheers
Ben

Inspired by you lot, I've begun building one of the kits I've had stashed away. Where might I find a set of 1/24 scale Mugen CF-48s?

I don't think the CF-48 has been done in scale, the NR-10 has been.

Started working on the chassis of the Celica, before painting I dabbed on Tamiya Surface Primer for a texture like under-coating. It was then painted Tamiya Matt Black, washed with thinned Tamiya Smoke and dusted with some pastel chalks. The shocks were painted Tamiya French Blue.

Got the chassis pretty much finished, I need to get the wheels trimmed down and add them and the brakes. The exhaust was done in Silver Rub N Buff and heat stained with Tamiya Weathering Master set D, went back over with the pastel chalks after assembly.

I can't believe how talented a lot of you guys are, theres been some seriously cool stuff posted in this thread!

I'm a hack when it comes to building, I know in my mind how I want something to look, but it always ends up looking like a three year old made it

This is the only car I like enough to show, but even it is pretty shoddy. I didn't do the window surrounds/door handles etc because they always look dodgy, I'm not smooth enough with the brush, but I figured with a dark body colour I could kind of get away with it

I wanted it to look like something you might see at a drift practice day so I pinched the Watanabes from I think a DR30 kit, race seat for the driver and 80's style Recaro for the passenger from some other kit and scratch-built a half cage. I tried lowering it and sanding the back side of the guards to get the wheels to sit as flush as possible but really I think I need to have a go at making small flares to make it sit right

Actually, having just had a closer look at the photos, I think the problem is that the wheels and tyres are just too big for a Corolla, they look like a 16 with a 225/50 tyre which is far too tall. Looks like I put the Recaro in as an afterthought too, the earliest photo shows two race seats

This R31 is my next project I think, I nicked these wheels from a SA22C kit. The white DR30 behind it is an example of my awesome line work...

Image

My stack of unbuilt kits. I'm no good at building them, but I do like looking at the box art, so I justify my purchases on that alone half the time

Are there varying sizes of fender mirrors for the model cars? I have a 70's Strombecker (Tootsie Toy) Civic that is about 1/12 scale that I would like fender mirrors for.

Any help on this?

Thanks.

Just made some 1/24 TE37Vs (well...close to*). Pics when weather warms up and I can get a coat of bronze on them.

*Aoshima TE37 Gravel with lips turned down from old Fujimi Watanabes.

funny, I am doing the same thing with a set of TE37s myself. I cut the centers out and was downsizing them to fit the 15 inch rims myself. I would love to see some pics of yours. I will try to dig up the pics of mine. I started out trying to make some better offsets and stumbled into making smaller TE37s.

Small inaccuracy in that they don't have a step between the face and the lip, just couldn't do it without increasing diameter. Will get pics as soon as its warm enough to prime and paint them!

I though the Aoshima TE37 gravels the best base because they already have concave spokes and are ~15" in scale.

Ok, I quickly primed and hit one of the rears with some silver mica. They will end up bronze however. Apologies for the dust on the DR, I just grabbed the first model off the shelf which I thought would suit. They will be going on a Fujimi KPGC10 kit.

As I say, the lack of the 2nd step between the face and lip is a downer but I think in bronze they will be convincing enough, compare the real thing:
