Finally finished pulling out the powertrain. The plan is to have the engine rebuilt, swap in a 5 speed and refinish the engine bay. :)

Finally the high heat and humidity of Summer is subsiding and its time to get on with refinishing the engine bay. The engine is now chained down, shrink wrapped, palletized and on its way to the rebuilder. :)

Looks like I'll be going with an EF bottom and keeping the ED head. This should provide a bit more torque and HP. :)

Love the work done to her. Very nice and detailed. I have always liked the late 70's early 80's Civic's.

Things have been going really slow. The engine is still being built. Newly discovered rust needs to be dealt with before the engine bay can get painted. The rear firewall and side rails where the rear crossmember attaches are now undercoated and finished. :)

Refinished the lower firewall and rear crossmember. The car is now back at the bodyshop to have some metal work and the engine bay sprayed. :)

The engine bay is finally painted. Need to remove some overspray and touch up a few spots. :)

Thanks for the kind words. :) My engine is still not back yet - hopefully soon.

I picked up a 77 Civic CVCC 5 sp parts car. I'll be swapping over the complete shifter assembly once I refinish it. :)

Awesome job, how much did it cost to overhaul? I'm also looking into car insurance quotes for an old civic too.

Here's a quick pic of the rebuilt engine and 5 speed.
The front crossmember needs to get sand blasted and repainted.

Detailed the engine, re-finished the crossmember and installed the engine.
Now need to find time to get it all hooked back up. :)

Great work on the little Civic! Did you replace any of the rubber bits -- like the blinker / taillight gaskets and stuff? If so, where were you able to get them? If not, how did you clean them up?

Thanks!

Jesse.

Thanks!! I got pretty lucky on most of the lights. I was able to track down NOS side markers most of the way around.
The tail lights came from CA and were in pretty nice condition. I found NOS lenses for the rear signals. :)
